| So, friday saw my 1st trip to DV8 in absolutely ages and i had a really good night. Surprisingly, i found myself djing at the start of the night, the guys from Stunners were there and had to go put their van away, leaving me in charge of music for an hour and a half. It's not that easy playing a set with someone elses collection, so i started off with stuff i know well that wasn't too offensive to people's ears (i hope), i resisted the urge to play Pantera and Meallica. i really did enjoy it though and i really hope i get the chance again. | i was sitting on the ramp of the club waiting on some band members turning up to pick up their amps and cymbals when i saw a dark skinned man walk up the ramp towards me. He handed my a business laminated business card, explaining in, what to me sounded like a Turkish accent that he was a fortune teller. i looked at the card, read what said and handed it back explaining that, although i believe in all that stuff, i really wasn't feeling up to a reading as i had a lot going on. | Transformers the movie (and by this i mean the big budget live action affair that's just hit the cinemas, as opposed to the original Transformers: The Movie which was an animated affair) is something i've waited on since i was about 5, i'm now 30 and they've finally done it. | Well i was gonna head through to DV8 tonight but, as usual, events have conspired against me and, rather than having a pint at DV8 and catching up with people i haven't seen in too long, i'm gonna have to be doing some running round for my 'nilla club. i've been planning on going to DV8 for the past 2 or 3 months but, something always gets in the way. this time i got closer than any of the other times, i mean, i was gonna be leaving in just over 2 hours! in an attempt to step into the 21st century (and to lighten the load of my mobile disco setup) i've switched from Djing with CD's (which i'd switched to from vinyl becuase i was fed up of losing records through the rough and tumble of transport, with CD's i only brought a backup copy of the original with me) to Djing with a laptop (clubby books are very handy £5 a week!  ). Now, instead of taking 2 rather large and heavy flight cases full of cd's, 3 large folders, 2 silver flightcases, 2 small folders and a plastic bag all full of CD's as well as the mixing desk and 2 CD playes in their flightcase, [more...]
