Agoraphobia (7)

Tomorrow i am going to the LAM, i should be really excited, but i am full of nerves. Over the past 6 years i have had really bad periods when agoraphobia has stolen my life, but the last year it has been so much better. i go out and about in Bedford, i even made it to a munch last year. So i know bedford is no problem.
The thought of getting on the train tomorrow which i am hoping will be emptyish and then meeting the 2 lovely people who i am going to the LAM with is just filling me with fear. London is a big place with loads of people.
Not sure why i am writing this but it seems better to put it down in words then have it swimming round my head.
Wish me luck and calm thoughts and hopefully see some of you tomorrow

Good luck. I am sure you will be fine.
Try and concentrate on the positive aspects of the day. The train journey will be fine you just need to stop thinking about all the negative things that can happen and just think it through knowing everything will be ok.
I am an agraphobic fighter. A new title I gave myself. I dont like to think I suffer from it I prefer to think that I fight it. So I know just how brave you are being.
I dont know you, yet I feel proud of what you are doing.
Good luck again

You are showing how strong you are just by arranging to go!! Once that buzz kicks in you will be fine. Hope you have a great time!! Your braver than me..
ss xx To know how to wonder and question is the first step of the mind towards discovery.

The best of luck to you, and I hope it will be much easier than you think.

Maybe carry a picture of something that reminds you of your aims for the day and keep it with you all the time. If the panic feelings start to rise, look at the picture and focus on it to keep your mind on what you want to do. Perhaps a flyer of the LAM would do it or a picture of something you may want to buy?
Good luck and see you there.
Hugs

Good luck for an enjoyable trip out. Are those who you are meetng aware of your agrophobia? If so I am sure they would be happy to arrange comfort calls with you if you asked them. So you could get a call on your mobile 5 mins after boarding time, perhaps 30 mins into the journey etc
It will break it up slightly and give you something to focus on. |
