| So, for my 2000th post, I thought that I should perhaps do something that I don't usually. Be honest and open. Well, I am habitually honest (there's not a lot of point otherwise), but I'm not habitually open. To be honest (since it's not my modus operandi) I'm not entirely comfortable about being open. I mean, although this is my personal space, other people might read it. And although I'm not superstitious in the slightest (I've owned, and been on better than nodding terms with, black cats, I've broken the odd mirror, spilled salt and not chucked it over my shoulder, I directed a school production [more...] | ||

| I was trying to work out how to blog about intensely personal thoughts without actually saying them (in view of the fact that the person involved in those thoughts is guaranteed to read it). Then I figured, what's the point of a blog if you don't put your thought into it? So here goes. [more...] | ||

| I've always found people fascinating, and love the little nuances, tell tale signs that give you tiny bits of extra information. Perhaps it's a smile, a twinkle in the eyes, a glance, a phrase (a hat tipped at a rakish angle, even). In some ways I'm not the most observant of people, as indeed I've blogged in the not too distant past, but I do sometimes seem to pick up on little details about people that tell so much about them. | Every time I think I know something, somebody comes along to burst my bubble. It's happened throughout my life, and I don't imagine it's going to stop any time soon.. I spend a lot of time thinking. It's something I'm quite good at, and that I enjoy. It seems to deliver. Usually. Sometimes. [more...] | ||

| I was musing about the extraordinary number of people (and the number of extraordinary people too) who I've encountered on my odyssey of self-discovery over the past four or five years. Various web sources have been invaluable in helping me to connect with people who have been pivotal in developing my understanding, some translating into real life, some staying online. | Browsing around following redcat's provocative thread on Intelligentsia, I've just come across this fascinating piece - "Why VERY INTELLIGENT men fail with women". It gives ten reasons why, of which a precis below: [more...] | ||

| I love words. Pure and simple. Words are never offensive, though they may be used in that way; in themselves they are evocative, comforting, disturbing, shocking, handy. Sometimes they don't meet with universal approval, often they feel like they should mean something else. [more...] | ||

| I've thought long and hard about a problem that's bothered me for some time. (This blog has been gestating for at least a couple of weeks and it's probably time either to give birth or abort it). I know this is a common problem for dommes, but although it's not a logistical problem for me in the same way (I don't, for example, get deluged in dozens of memos daily) it is still a problem.
