Up before the swallows this morning, sun pouring in and cats chewing at toes for breakast. Rest of the world looked like it was sleeping, I remember that my newly joined gym has an outdoor heated pool. Fark it, lets start the day the right way, I thought.

Tiny lives

I posted last week about my brother and his discovery that his twins-to-be hadn't developed properly. Monozygotic identical twins sharing the same sac and with one of them with a rapidly slowing heart rate. The doctor had explained to them that there was a 1 in 100,000 chance of them being born successfully. He hadn't seen such an unfortunate set of circumstances before.

Thanks to everyone

I just wanted to thank everyone for the memoes, texts and stuff I have received about Needles death. It really has meant a lot to me, in what has been a difficult weekend. Special thanks to Mel and Carena for the flowers.

And then there was one

The household is half empty - Needles has been missing for two days now. Done all the usual - looking all round the area, just leafletted 150 houses and put signs up on lamposts; his brother is going frantic meowing at my feet for his brother. In fact he has just followed me all round the woods meowing for him.

Crawling on the floor and eating mice

The cats have got into a pattern of bringing me mice and voles-constantly. Im up to about five a day, nearly enough for a game of mouse five a side. I had a friend over for dinner last night and in the middle of it they brought in another, laying it at my feet and waiting for me to do something with it.

Two go mad in Bath

Bit of a miracle either of us managed to go mad in Bath actually- events conspired against us for a week in which it looked like we might have to abandon the whole shebang, culminating in my piece de la resistance, an 80mph hour blowout on the M4 in the rain at rush hour.
