A Review of Nemesis II, Feb 16th: Hot or Not?

"A tale of celebration, woe, joyfulness and de-icer"
elodie has the (mis)-fortune to share her birthday with a celebration of St. Valentine, who as we all know is the modern incantation of the Pagan festival of Lupercalia. This festival was intended to purify a location, banishing evil spirits and bringing healthiness. And how apt that his should be the same week that we scratched onto the calendar for a birthday visit to Nemesis II, a venue that we were to discover was suddenly not a venue any more.
We first visited Nemesis II as a couple this time last year. And it was a night that will be remembered fondly for as long as we both live. Amongst other antics that evening, elodie was roped to the wheel, inverted and made to shriek. One giggle inducing spank was given for each year of her life by myself and a number of friends who were in attendance. The wonderful John asked us on the spot if we would join as members and that started a trend of: "Can we go to Nem this month please Sir?"
We are certainly not regulars in Huddersfield, but it is not for want of trying. We both have active social lives but we have managed a half-dozen visits in the last 12 months - all of which have illustrated "a cracking night out". So when the calendar started filling up for February it was only natural to put a big red "N" next to the 16th. The tension was beginning to build as I started the usual scenario wind-ups and we discussed outfits.
I checked the Nemesis II web site the weekend before to ensure that the club night was still running and encountered a puzzling message that pervaded all pages. A quick post on I.C. was met with a reference to a most shocking thread. My stomach dropped as I read that the venue we loved and had so many positive memories of had collapsed - literally.
The Nemesis II crew assured a plethora of concerned patrons that they would sort something out - and sort something out they did! A quick flurry of memo's had us booked onto the night and directions to the secret location in the hills. The insistence on "no stiletto heels" was not even a concern, elodie swapped the planned spike heels for some block heeled boots, and we were in the car and off for an adventure.
Now as anyone who was out last night will know - it was not a good evening for a drive up to the "kinky club in the woods" (as my friends L&K like to describe Nemesis). At one point the outside temperature was down to minus nine degrees. The knot of anticipation associated with the possibility of squeaking our way into an octogenarian bingo drive was quickly diminished by the leather clad doorman. We were greeted on the car park by one of the crew with a jolly smile, a crack about the weather and a knowing wink. "Up the stairs and through the door, folks," we wandered into the lobby and were met by the rest of the Nemesis crew who, despite being in the venue since 7am to set up for the afternoon Knife Play Workshop, were all laughing and joking and pleased to see us. We knew from that point onwards that we would have a fine evening.
The "emergency" venue was spacious, airy and warm and there was not a whiff of "sweaty jockstrap" to be had! If anything, the inside temperature was more comfortable than the old venue - and elodie wasted no time in losing her dress. We were waited-on by a delightful maid, who provided us with warming brews and bottles of water, and nodded greetings to the Dungeon Masters. It was like home-away-from-home. They had even brought the light-curtain from the private room in the old venue. We wasted no time in acquiring a lovely red-leather clad bench for a birthday spanking/flogging/whipping (with a surprise torture implement) and elodie was giggly and relaxed throughout.
Retiring to take stock in the comfortable seating area we got chatting to a few old friends we had not seen since BBB and caught up over a brew, some chocolate and a foot-stamping cigarette. We returned to the couches to watch a number of other scenes unfolding around us on the free-standing crosses, thrones, benches, tables, stools, and horse - and at one point I think there were eight separate groups of people getting into "the swing of things".
At roughly midnight elodie received her instruction to "strip" and I had a lot of fun creating an objet d'art for the other attendees amusement. Under orders to hold the pose, elodie was wrapped in rope-work and her pearls were pegged, leaving her on display for the roving eyes in the darkness. And she really spaced - a very happy relaxed space that was completed with hugs and a big wooly jumper.
To provide us all with such a good night out on such short notice, the Nemesis crew deserve a hearty round of applause. They have run themselves ragged this week organizing a venue, moving the equipment, arranging heating, lighting, sounds, brews and a million other things that you can't see on the face of a night out. If you have enjoyed a Nemesis evening, the best way to let them know is by voting with your attendance when they organize another "guest venue" night. This was definitely a hot night out.
Who would have thought that such a cold night in the hills could make you so warm inside?

Thank you, it was as you say a wonderful night. Others in the crew worked far harder than we did on the setting up and taking down and they I think deserve a really big vote of thanks.
I think the sapce worked extremely well and didnt have the feel of a 'sports hall' at all. Of course the sofas and carpet helped in that respect. Not to mention the dungeon equiptment.
Priscilla the Sat Nav Domme took us a bit of a wonderful route, up hill and down dale, but it was worth it in the end.
Glad you enjoyed. Sweetiejar

Would have felt a little guilty about not talking to more people but I was having too much fun playing.
Great night and I really hope there are more soon.

I think the rest of the nem crew will agree with me when I say, even though we were not exactly on our home ground, it was one of the most enjoyable nights we've had in ages.

Yes it was good, very Good .
May I also say a BIG thank you to all the Nem crew and helpers who put in so much effort, both before & obviously after, to make the night Play Event feel so good.
Situated in a possibly one-off hired location, the room was warm [-6* outside], tastefully lit, atmospheric for music and Nem style 'visuals' in a club sense {starry netting plus carpeted areas with Nem's Red settee's}.
It also had a selection of more than enough good play equipment, plus some great people and just worked so very well.

P.S, I think I spoke to you re-Black Rope, glad you had a good evening.
Life saw this Lion needed a true playmate one that compliments me and life gave to me the Wonderful Gift of *GoldsGirl*.

m0b1uz ...... has covered nearly every point that anyone could say about the event, so for once I will not go on and on and on and on .. ... or shall I! (although I couldn't do it as elegantly as m0b1uz)
The day event started a little late, but most of us went up or down a few hills before we landed, the temperature of the venue was a little cold to begin with but the fires were soon burning and none of us really noticed the cold, plus there was plenty of volunteers to strip off for the Workshop displays, thanks to the Nemesis cow who had been working hours to set up, and continued to do so after the Workshop had come to a close and those of us attending had gone for a meal, and a refresh.
Despite the cold start to the day, it was well worth it, the Workshop covered a few thing I already know, Health & Safety, but it's a most always! I enjoyed trying a few things out near the end which meant even I stripped off a little, so it was not that cold!
Upon arriving back we were welcomed warmly by all, and boy was it HOT! I think nearly every one stripped something off ....... but me! Sorry, to say but I kept clothes for once which is a little unusual for me, but then again it was a first club play and it turned out to be as a voyeur which was something new, but very enjoyable.
The warm friendly atmosphere was well worth turning up for a night to remember, which in my option comes from the people that are around you, not sand, water and brick........ although the fire heaters did last the night out, which I was thankful for.
Well, done to all of those that help make this evening a brilliant one!
'no stiletto heels' I looked deep into my wardrobe and found a pair which I could wear, which would hopefully not harm floors, but if the need had been there I could have put on a pair of flat shoes, not the end of the world, just a shame the dress didn't turn up in time!
Sorry, I did still manage to go on and on! ...... blushing! Wake up each morning with a smile on your face, follow your path through daylight and darkness enjoying the pleasures to be had!
Friends are hard to find so hold onto those you have, be happy with them and for them, be there in their hour of need and hopefully they shall be there for YOU!
