A little bit of reverse psychology...

Based on the, frankly, utterly appalling success rates I've managed to achieve in more years than I care to mention, this year I've decided to try a bit of reverse psychology on the New Year fates.

Cavorting...

In what feels like the dim and distant past I was a pretty committed cavorter. Obviously it wouldn't be appropriate to cavort unceasingly through life, but some cavorting bouts lasted for years... others for mere minutes. Sometimes I cavorted in public... other times only within the confines of my own imagination. I cavorted with friends and family. I cavorted at work. I cavorted with lovers. On occasion, I cavorted with complete strangers ;-).

I saw Ralph McTell live recently. I can't claim to be some longtime dedicated fan. I don't even own any of his albums. I just saw the gig listed and took myself along on a whim.

Oh God I'm such a Luddite...

I'm an old fashioned kinda girl. I don't have an iPod, my mobile phone sends texts and makes calls - end of, and I still have one of these mounted on my kitchen wall. You may mock - but when there's a power cut and all you smug, techie, early-adopter types are cut off from civilisation 'cause your DECT phones have died - guess who'll be sitting pretty and dialling in her order to the nice pizza delivery man - hmmm?

For all the dieters...

Based on the number of weblogs I see on the subject, then I'm one of many people doing battle with the bulge at the moment.

RIP Gerry Rafferty

Only 63... what a talent... his music was one of the seminal soundtracks of my teenage years :-(

I've been learning to play the guitar for a while, and so far I'm doing OK :-) I can do oodles of chords, and finger picking 'n' all kinds of clever stuff now.
