Some time before I entered the scene, I one day attempted to register to post on the Guardian Unlimited discussion boards. I tried my real name, Karen, but (unsurprisingly) it was taken. One part of me wants to just describe the wonderful dinner party to which we were so kindly invited by Oph and GW, which for me was made particularly memorable by an amazing (and unexpected!) scene orchestrated by my beloved Dominant, Matou. | In reading the recent weblogs by Jaggery, Mistress Fox, Kathy, Shadow Rose and others, the underlying question seems to be: Who decides what a word, or a group of words, "means"? The person who selects and uses the word? The person who hears or reads the word? The creators of the Oxford English Dictionary? Literary theorists and critics have been arguing about this question for a long time. | Matou and I participated in SM Pride (2nd August) this year, the first time for both of us to do so. For various reasons (mostly related to scheduling) we didn't march, but we were involved in the PerveFest demos: Matou presented his caning workshop, we were on the panels for the Men's and Women's discussion groups, and Matou assisted in the percussion play workshop. We also attended the SM Pride Ball at Bagley Studios that night.
