A party (2)

I recently went to a party. At it was a large lady who expressed an interest in Obstetrix. Or it may have been Oblongs.
Truth be told, I wasn't really listening as someone has selotaped my feet together and was attempting to make me lick EvoSticks.
But they taste horrid and I was still savouring the taste of the canapes I'd had earlier which looked like toasted sparrow feet, but probably were not. At least as far as I could make out from the catering manager.
I eventually managed to free my feet and dismiss the boy with the EvoSticks, but the large lady had walked off, limping slightly as she had now got some of my selotape attached to her feet.
I noticed she was collecting fluff from the woolen carpet as she walked, which I found ironic. I'm not sure why.
At this point I noticed that no-one else was wearing a hat like mine. I had put it on especially because I knew it was going to be that kind of party. But no-one else seemed to have bothered. Thus rendering my pre-party logic rather void.
I decided to remove the hat, but keep on my antlers, just in case the party moved in that direction.
There is always the risk.
Someone offered me more canapes and I decided to just screech at them for a while until they stopped. Which didn't take long. Though it did make some people look at me.
The large lady came back over. I tried to tell her about her now hobbity foot, but she still just kept asking me about Obstetrix. I told her that I trusted in whatever opinion she formed on the subject and asked if she thought either my hat or antlers were appropriate.
She said "no" and I thought a little less of her.
We carried on talking for a time, about this and that. She did keep looking at my antlers, which made me somewhat more relaxed in her company. But I began to wish that she wasn't rubbing me quite as hard as it was uncomfortable.
Eventually I was asked to leave. I think my concern for the correct helmetery had disquited them.
But such is the narrow furrow I plough through life. Edited Fri 23 Jun 06, 10:13 PM by billybofh
