Men Only Rope Event

Sunday 10th Febuary 2008

London

With DT1974 organising and demonstrating, teaching, coaching I knew that I would not be disappointed and as soon as I could I secured my place for the workshop and party afterwards.

A combination of having to wait longer than expected for lunch in a pub and a part of the underground being closed which meant having to get on the bus replacement service between stops which made us about 30mins late for the start.

When we eventually arrived (we did get a text from DT saying that they would start and we could catch up) the guard / door pup was there to greet us and SA's pup escorted us into the workshop.

I had decided to just wear civies although that was probably more due to having to leave my leather at home as I did not have room for them in my bag - which was a shame as quite a few had dressed up in rubber, military, leather gear.....hhhmmmmmmmmmmmm

We only missed the brief introduction about rope bondage, the safety talk and the first part of the demonstration.

The level was pitched at beginners - simple types of rope bondage showing how to do holding ties, binding feet and legs together and top harnesses, full body harnesses which could be linked together.

DT and his 'helpers' made sure they spent time with everybody and were happy to help people. As the workshop was a small group it was possible for everybody to get individual help if required and on a step by step basis as well.

Although the session was structured, DT's style of presenting was very natural with a good balance of being informative in a clear manner without getting technical.

Certainly he was demonstrating with confidence his abilities on the subject and being able to pass them on to others.

I very much enjoyed that part of the day and as usual when you are enjoying yourself - time flew only too quickly !

In between this session and the rope party there was a break for people to practice and play with rope, get something to eat or in my case book into their hotel room

I arrived back for the 'rope play party' and other people not at the afternoon session had arrived.

As you would expect if you have been to a rope play party before people played with rope. It was good to watch the rope action and I observed other techniques.

There was plenty of space with mats, suspension frames and other 'playpeices' available.

There was a table with a collecion of books about rope - part of DT's extensive collection and his portfolio packed with men roped up and who feature on his Men In Rope site.

Pictures were also projected on the ceiling and one of them fancy photoframes which display digital photographs from the site was also placed by the bar.

Throughout the party some excellent music was played which was very much in the background and did not encroach on the ambience of the room.

DT made sure that he worked around the room introducing himself and talking to all of the people who attended. He also made sure that everybody was comfortable and was available and approachable for any questions or help that was needed.

DT made time to ensure that people who wanted to be roped up had the opportunity to do so and was a 'matchmaker' for those a bit shy or timid to ask!

I found it a tad hard to know who was a 'rope top' or 'bottom' at the event or indeed a rope switch. So suggested that perhaps some sort of badge colour could indicate who could be approached as well as perhaps name badges that may have helped people like me who are a tad shy with new people or forgetful of people names. However as it was pointed out to me I probably should have looked at the 'clues' in which people placed chains, wrist bands, or hankies although it is hard to look for things if you dont know the code.

There was an official photographer who took excellent pictures of the event and made sure that nobody who did not want to be in the pictures was not photographed and equally was available to take pictures of those who did want momentos of the day. There was an option to sign a release from with contact details for you to be e-mailed a copy of the pictures that you where involved in and a further option if you wanted the picture to appear on the Men In Rope site (with or without faces etc).

As for me a very massive woof woof thankyou to the BIG man, DT1974 for your time in organising and running such an event. It all seemed to go smoothly and I certainly had a grand time (but you probably knew that)!

Another massive woof woof, many thanks to the sexy Strange Angle who made me into a very comfortable, contented roped up happy pup seat.

Also not to forget rope bunny, the cute photographer, ska, SA's pup (who looked hoootttt in his rugby top and shorts) I forgive you for not recognising me in the photos :-D.

Oh and DT - I promise not to tell anybody about the 'loose ropes' ;)

Xx
