| I've been using this nifty little app for a month or so. It's rather good. Before that I was calorie counting and writing everything down in Word. It was pretty dull (but effective). I'm not always convinced My Fitness Pal is 100% right, especially on the exercise front, but for a free bit of kit, I thought it was worth a mention. | ||

| So over the course of my weight loss the biggest issue I have had is to find some of "filler" to my meal, basically the starchy element as I have tried to remove as many fats and carbs as possible which doesnt leave you with much to play with. [more...] | ||

| I went to a party Sunday, caught up with some people I had not seen in quite a few months, and one of them said he didn't recognise me. I had to laugh, as I don't think I've changed too much, but it still felt good, as I know what he actually meant was I look different having lost more weight recently. It's been a long and slow journey, one that continues, but I've now lost nearly 95 pounds over 3 1/2 years. I can't pinpoint exactly last time I saw the person involved, but it must have been around February and I am probably 20 pounds lighter than when we last caught up. [more...] | ||

| Ok, well, a bit of background - I'm no stranger to diets, I think over the years I've tried most of them! I have always been chunky, but as I used to ride, walk, and run a fair bit I was still healthy with it, and in fact it wasn't until around a dozen years ago I got really big. A combination of issues had me hit rock bottom and my weight soared. Anyway, those issues may be all in the past but the weight hung around, with little bits here and there going, then the dreaded plateau would strike...then around a year ago I started losing well again, only for a sudden bereavement & upset to cause it [more...] | ||

| I've tried to track what I'm eating a few times (I'll try to start again this week), using an Android app called "Calorie Counter" (which is linked to a website called Fatsecret and "weightloss" app on facebook). It makes it pretty easy - you can scan barcodes, or search for food items, or enter the nutritional information from labels yourself, and it gives you a nice table with summaries of what you've eaten today.
