| I've had my offer to buy some woodland accepted. I've been looking at
various pieces of woodland since the autumn, but this has been the best of
the bunch: 19 acres of broadleaf woodland on the southern end of the
Cheshire plain between Manchester and Birmingham. The wood is very secluded
- it's surrounded by streams and ditches on all sides, with a single
access point -
and includes a lot of young shrubby growth so it's also well screened. [more...]

| This weekend I went to Club Lash with lili and popi on Friday, and the three of us dropped into the Manchester Munch for a few minutes on Saturday. We've not been to any scene events in Manchester since the autumn, and the effects of the smoking ban are really sinking in with no "smoke hangover" the next morning for a non-smoker like me. | "Le Lien" ("The Bond" or "The Link") is an autobiographical account of a BDSM relationship by Frenchwoman Vanessa Duries. Following it's publication in 1993, she shot to fame and notoriety, and even appeared on French television, before dying in a car crash in the December of the same year, at the age of 21. | I first read Story of O in 1993 and at the time I didn't really like it
- certainly not its BDSM themes. I could see it was capital-L
Literature, and I'd read enough modern fairy tales and fables to read
between the lines, but to be honest, I was indifferent to it. I reread
it twice over the years with no change in how I felt, although I did

Yesterday, lili, popi and I went to watch the annual Pride Parade through the centre of Manchester. Every year it seems to get bigger and thousands of people turn out to see it. Afterwards we went to see "The Notorious Bettie Page".
Both parade and film turned out to involve themes of the celebration of sexual minorities, and other people's attempts to suppress them. [more...]

There's been some discussion on IC about this month's issue of
Bizarre Magazine, so yesterday I went
and found a copy for the first time in more than a year. There always was
some BDSM or Fetish content, but this month has features on BDSM and the
law, flesh hook suspensions, and that Kaotian "slave master" in Darlington.
As well as the features, there is a double-page spread with a report on the
Club Noir burlesque night in Glasgow (a borderline fetish fashion event);
