| I'm a latecomer to the BDSM community. And it is a community - a complete society of people united by a common attribute – their sexuality. My sexuality was established at three years of age and my tastes are not extreme. In fact many people who consider themselves to have a completely normal sexuality have experienced far more than I have. I have lived for most of my adult life with feelings of shame and of not belonging to mainstream society and this has previously prevented me from forming relationships. | I haven't felt much like blogging on IC lately. And so I haven't. In fact I've hardly looked at IC for months and months. At this point it's traditional to say things ain't what they used to be and it's not as good here as it was when I first joined. This is of course nonsense. Things are different. People who wrote blogs back then have moved on or stopped blogging. But there are still blogs; just as many as before. I don't enjoy reading them as much but is it IC that's changed, or me? | I made an interesting discovery this week. I found a new button on my TV remote control. I call it a new button but I guess it's been there the entire 12-16 years I've been using the TV. A new button implies it grew overnight, like a new shoot on a plant. I think the button has always been there - I just never noticed it before. I never look at it. Frankly you could put anything the right shape and size on the arm of my chair and I wouldn't notice, so long as it did the job - you know a tortoise or something. | I dislike being excluded from things because of my age, my size, my qualifications, my wealth, my social class and background, my race or my gender. It doesn't really matter what it is, I don't like being excluded. And my dislike ranges from mild irritation to hatred. I'm excluded from things like Saga and 18-30 holidays because of my age. I don't get a pensioner's discount from B&Q or a cheap TV licence for the same reason. I understand why this is but I still resent it.
