| A short post for all my friends out there who are perhaps not aware of the health problems I have had over the past 12 months. What we thought was simple anaemia about 14 months ago was eventually diagnosed as myeloidisplasia & has now become acute myeloid leukaemia. I have gone from having blood transfusions every 6 weeks to now needing them every 2 weeks, so this news did not come as a great surprise - although it was still very hard to hear. However it is now too late for the wonder drug from America we were hoping to get & the only option open to me is chemo which I start on Monday/Tuesday [more...] | ||

| It's silly o'clock in the morning & we have had a couple of power cuts that, funnily enough, woke me up!! It's the sound of the telephone beeping by the side of the bed as it comes back on; it's the insistent alarms buzzing on the fridge & freezer when the power comes back on – its only a very low buzz but at 4am it sounds like a fire alarm! It was also the burning sensation in my throat & chest that told me I have indigestion from eating Chinese food at about 10pm – I could do stuff like that all the time when I was younger, now I find I have to reach for the bloody Gavisgone!!!! | My nephew, 24 years old, tall & handsome with a little goatee beard & a studious/serious look to his beautiful face behind his glasses died last Saturday in the early hours of the morning. He lived in Israel with my older brother, my Israeli sister in law & Adam his older brother (27). He was at a party celebrating end of term exams & as yet we don't know what happened. Was it drink; was it consensual drugs, or even non-consensual drugs? We have no idea. They did a post-mortem, although its not compulsory. | Hello All, Sorry this is a long post but it has helped me to write it all down so if you read to the end I thank you. Just thought I would let people know I am home following my urgent 2 week trip to Israel where my Mum had unexpected heart bypass surgery. Its been a hell of a two weeks I have to say. She sailed through the op with flying colours (which is something of a miricle in itself as she has lung desease & up until the op was a very heavy smoker, as well as being 77 years old & riddled with arthritis)!!!! | Well I am nearly ready for the off - flight leaves at 08.30 Saturday morning so it means yet another 03.30 trip from home to be at Heathrow for 05.30. At the moment Mum is comfortable, she has been moved from the sort of minor hospital where she lives to one of the huge main Tel Aviv hospitals who are more equipped & experienced in doing major heart surgery. Originally we thought the op would be tomorrow but have now heard there is no room on the list as she is stable & not an emergency. From my point of view I am relieved! | Well we finally did it!!! Until this weekend Richard & I had only ever been to cmunch (nearly every month for a year) & Caesars, twice. We have been asked to visit Nemessis many, many times by the luscious sweetiejar but I had never "plucked up the courage"!! For some reason going to a BDSM club alone (just the two of us) "gave me the willies"!! Not that I thought the 'boggey men' would be out to get us, but more because I was worried about inadvertently doing something wrong, annoying somebody, embarrassing ourselves, breaking etiquette etc etc. Our two visits to Caesars had been under the wing [more...] | ||
