| We'd booked our hotel a few weeks ago, as soon as we knew we'd be going, and booked yet another room when another couple asked to come along. Then another couple confirmed they were coming too and so another room was booked, then I was again asked to book a room for yet another friend who wanted to come too. So all in all we had four rooms booked. Which meant the panic was quite large when the hotel contacted us to say, "Ooops the motorway's going to be closed, we need to make alternative arrangements for your rooms!" [more...] | ||

| Was parked on a slope today, at right angles to the pavement as that's the way the spaces were, backed into the space as usual. Sitting there doing paperwork when I saw the driver of the car next to me returning. An elderly man ('old' doesn't sound so nice, does it?), one of those who walk bent over with a bowed neck as standard. Face pointing towards the ground. No idea what causes it, but I was walking that way myself on Monday - although not with the bowed neck and face looking at the ground. [more...] | ||

| A lovely road, this, in summer. It runs alongside Loch Venacher, through Brig O'Turk and round Loch Achray, before turning south to head to Aberfoyle. I've enjoyed driving along it a few times, usually from Callander to Aberfoyle, and not the other way round for some reason. | I got new specs. Varifocals - as I'm now finding it hard to read small print on microwave food packets (a sad reflection of my lifestyle) and have to take off my ordinary glasses for reading books and writing. | It's been blowing a gale all night. Last night I was unsure if I'd get over the Forth Road Bridge when I was heading out of Edinburgh on my way home. It was closed to high sided vehicles but apparently my vehicle isn't high enough to be classed as high sided. I'm pleased about that, it would have meant a detour of over an hour otherwise!
