| The town where I grew up, there wasn't so much a white majority as a white totality. There were no race issues, because we were snowblind, by definition. There was an Indian family that ran a chemist, a Chinese family that owned a takeaway, but that's about it. I went to school with their kids, and race just didn't jut enough to even on the radar. | I'm pretty lucky in some regards, I reckon. 'Lucky' as in I've had a better deal than many, in terms of family. I mean, I have no grand reasons to spit any blame or hatred their way. They've not fucked me up, or left me with neuroses. Certain tendencies, hesitations and reasons to be guarded, sure, but nothing verging on the clinical. Family's mental. It's like a mosh pit of intense, unrelenting intimacy that borders on slow-motion violence, where you hope that more benefit is done than harm. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
