10 Oct 05When your loo blinks at you, it's time for beer (5)(11 Oct 05, 8:02 AM by Enchantress)
It has been a strange day chez PFLsAgain. I awoke to the sight of a miniature leopard sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor chewing on strands of dried spaghetti she'd purloined from a cupboard. And then I slowly started to notice the heat: after 8 months of resolute inaction the heating decided to go to overload. As a consequence I've baked to perfection on one of the hottest October days on record. Switching off the heating curiously had no effect. It continued at full blast, and with the thermometer threatening to go off the scale somewhere in the 30s, the only answer was to cut the power. [more...]
14 Sep 0515 down, 30 to go (6)(15 Sep 05, 4:12 PM by PFLsAgain)
Some foolish people have got the impression from my weblogs that I spend every spare moment on some madcap adventure in the air above Shropshire, but the truth is that I have another passion too. Oh yes, it's brewday chez The Black Cat Brewery. Quite some time ago I reported about the bizarre leopard-related mauling I received on trying to clear out the brewery in preparation for beer making to recommence. Well I'm sorry to say that although I cleared the brewery of bras with attached leopards and other sundry items of laundry, [more...]

15 Aug 05The day the sun died (2)(10 Sep 05, 3:05 PM by MykelO)
Is 6,000 miles too far to travel to watch a death and a birth? If it takes you a week and the cost is travel through political unrest in which you are both spectator and participant, is it still worth the trip? And what's the etiquette anyway – are you supposed to celebrate, have a wake, or grieve? I ruled out the latter, I wanted to see this death and would have felt immeasurably cheated if I'd missed it. Others didn't share my feelings and approached the day with trepidation and rituals to ward off the impending evil. [more...]
29 Jul 05Non-consensual scat play (not for the faint of stomach) (5)(31 Jul 05, 8:01 PM by PFLsAgain)
I have been musing on the issue of hard limits over the last couple of days and inevitably the ugly question of scat arose. I think the reason I find it distasteful may have something to do with a little incident I witnessed some years ago... [more...]
15 Jul 05Wanderer (5)(16 Jul 05, 7:36 AM by DevilRob)
The thing that alerted me to our intruder was not one of the usual giveaways. No creaking of a floorboard or the slamming of a door or any of those other clichés of bad films and worse novels. No, it was an odd slurping sound accompanied by crunching and shuffling noises. As I crept from the sitting room to the hallway I obviously wasn't as stealthy as I'd imagined and a blur of black shot past me heading for the open door and freedom. In a show of fake bravado two cats emerged from their hiding places and growled their defiance at the disappearing form, full of fight now that the opportunity to [more...]

31 May 05Bombing the European Parliament Building (5)(1 Jun 05, 5:38 PM by SamCaine)
Well what else are you going to do on a Bank Holiday Monday? Take one domme, one fairy, a goth, two lively kids, several members of IC and an aeroplane and the result was always going to be anarchy. We conducted several raids on the target, hit it once and departed into the safe environs of Shropshire airspace leaving only smoldering ruins behind us. What a great day! [more...]
23 May 05That Dallas Moment (4)(23 May 05, 9:00 PM by PFLsAgain)
I have mentioned once or twice, in passing, the bizarre and eccentric ways in which my family conduct themselves. They are without doubt caricatures of themselves (an odd concept if you stop to think about it, but they rarely do). Last night's conversation with my mother just affirmed that for me. [more...]
13 May 05In A Spin (6)(14 May 05, 12:33 PM by DevilRob)
Two months ago I publically announced on IC my intention to start doing bizarre things with an aircraft in the name of aerobatics. I should have known better, it really was tempting fate. Two months of shockingly awful "don't even think of going near an aeroplane" type weather have consigned me to the ground. The closest I got to an aerial adventure was screeching to an unscheduled halt on a roadside in Shropshire to take a photograph of an unusual cloud formation on The Wrekin and wouldn't you know it, the camera batteries were flat. [more...]
27 Apr 05We Do Not Dream Our Parents Dreams (1)(27 Apr 05, 6:59 PM by kikkiMM)
Picture this. She is looking out of the window, nose pressed to cold dampness while the passing granite countryside slowly ticks its radioactive decay into oblivion. It's the Ordie bus of course. More time to escape as it wends its way through isolated hamlets dropping off equally isolated children. Many years later she finds an accompanying theme for the escape. Briefly she considers hysteria, but as much as she loves that, she knows that it ought to be time is running out: [more...]
6 Apr 05Conversations overheard at midnight (4)(7 Apr 05, 3:00 PM by PFLsAgain)
I come from a large family, four brothers, two sisters and an army of more distant relatives who've seen fit to colonise the world whilst simultaneously wiping we stay-at-homes out of their collective memory. It's a religion thing. The remaining family, the ones that will talk to me, are all completely mad. I say this with complete certainty based on many years of irrefutable evidence. You'd think that the scientist in me would be worried by the obvious genetic connection between us, but you see I was adopted. Well that's my story. My mother says she distinctly remembers being there at the birth, [more...]
31 Mar 05Beauty and the beast (5)(31 Mar 05, 8:12 PM by lucky_1)
My very first weblog was a response to a comment about scientists playing God. From time to time I hear views of what it is that I do that make me sit back in a state of baffled non-recognition. It has happened to me again. In an exasperated outburst a comment was made to the effect that scientists are unimaginative destroyers of beauty, emotion, romanticism and the sheer intensity that goes with human experience by resolving it down to the mundanity of chemical interactions. I have tried to write [more...]
11 Mar 05Stepping up to the mark (5)(11 Mar 05, 8:58 PM by attica)
In my new lease of life I developed a philosophy to face the darker elements of living. Believing as Mark Twain said that courage is not the lack of fear but is acting in spite of it, I pledged to make myself regularly do something I feared. As a child I was introverted, self-conscious and conspicuously lacking in confidence. I feared almost every aspect of life and shrank from it, cowering in the sidelines watching and wondering at others. Heights, water, telephones, enclosed spaces but above all else, social interactions, all scared me beyond belief. My first venture was to do something so simple [more...]
4 Mar 05An Enchanted Diet (4)(4 Mar 05, 4:53 PM by larra_uk)
Regular readers of the PIC saga (all one or two of you) may well have wondered where my erstwhile partner-in-crime has disappeared to these days. Standby, I have news for you: she's morphed into a Domme and apparently it's all my fault! I introduced her to the fun of on-line Domming, her inner Domme emerged and now hellsbells is no more :-( But I'm happy to say that I still have a PIC, she goes by the name of Enchantress these days, and she's still as batty as ever [more...]
23 Feb 05... and there was a leopard nesting in my bra... (9)(24 Feb 05, 12:02 PM by subsumed)
This little story starts quite a few months ago now when He who must be obeyed and I decided to set off on a leopard hunt. I blame a certain other blogger on this site whose radio show put the idea in my mind, but be that as it may, there came a day when I decided that I absolutely had to have a pet leopard. Actually leopard is a little bit of an exaggeration. She's really a Bengal Cat which is a cross between your garden variety domestic moggie and an Asian Leopard Cat. Fully grown they're about one and a half times the size of a house cat, but with about ten times [more...]
3 Feb 05Night Vision (1)(5 Feb 05, 11:47 AM by subsumed)
It has been a rather indifferent day out here in rural Shropshire. Grey overcast skies and the dull light of a winter's day in February. But just about an hour before sunset a minor meteorological miracle occurred, the clouds parted to reveal a pale washed out blue sky and the low sun characteristic of northern latitudes. As the sun sank to the horizon the sky deepened through shades of red, orange and yellow to the deep purple of oncoming night and I was treated to the glorious sight of a flaming ball of blood red outlining the Wrekin almost from below. [more...]
