| I think that every consensual D/s or BDSM framework needs to spell out how it deals with consent because of the role consent plays in setting boundaries to the dominant's power. This raises the question of where the requirement for consent comes from: is it an axiomatic, foundational principle which is just agreed on; does it derive from, say, concepts of human rights; or does it come from something more fundamental? | A ritual is a set of actions mainly performed for their symbolic meaning, rather than purely for their practical result. O&P uses rituals to reinforce and maintain feelings of ownership and possession. For example, if a slave must always ask their owner's permission to leave the room, the purpose is not only to determine whether it is convenient for the slave to be absent, but to reinforce the owner's general authority over the slave's actions. | Last week I started a thread on Informed Consent about the way "true" and "real" are used in D/s and M/s. People, especially new people, post on forums about "true dominants" or "real submissives", and explain their frustration with time-wasters, liars, guys who'll play along with D/s to get some kinky sex, etc etc. [more...] | ||
