Shroomy's Seed Watch - the Unexpected Comeback!

Vegetable loving IC-ers may remember my surprisingly popular series of blogs entitled "Shroomy's Seed Watch" last year chronicalling the progress of my vegetable growing experiments. I know some were hoping for the return of SSW in the new gardening year and were dissapointed when I was not able to oblige owing to the end of my tenancy agreement in August and not knowing if my new digs would be vegetable friendly.

The Most Dangerous Cake in the World

I got this in an email from my sister... If made it will produce a substance not unlike a chocolate steamed sponge pudding. Really rather alarming that after coming into possession of this recipe one is able to go from ingredients to cake in 5 minutes flat. It is rather nice when served with ice-cream.

Shroomy's Seed Watch - Epilogue with photos

I really was going to write a proper blog about the end of my first ever veggie growing season... but first one thing delayed it, then another. Anyway the tomatoes were mostly turned into chutney (which was actually very delicious!), the parsnips were all roasted and yummed up and the carrots were boiled, roasted, stirfried or just eaten raw.

Shroomy's Seed Watch Week 12

In gardening news my sunflowers are going from strength to strength. I really must dig out my steel tape measure but at a rough gestimate the biggest one is clocking up growth of roughly an inch a day. It has about 18 inches to go before it makes it to the top of the garden fence and if the weather remains mild with some sun I think it's going to make it.

Shroomy's Seed Watch W11- tomato special!

The sunflowers are all between 4 to 6 inches taller and look much healthier than in recent times. However the main news to report is that the tomato has, for want of a better description, gone Triffid. It's extended it's lower shoots to seemingly double their size and at a rough count the plant now has about 10 to 11 trusses forming... also I spotted the first little green tomato nestling amongst the leaves!
