Debut Kinkdom (11)

There's only one first time, and that's what I started telling myself half way through the day at Kinkdom. My first premier event as co-organiser, my first go at a fetish fair, a munch, a play club and a kink ball.
I knew I needed to savour every minute because it would never happen again. Yes, the second, and third time too probably, will have that same flat out head-down panic, that same 'My god, what have we kicked into being and can we possibly control it?' sound track running while trying desperately to sort out the major problems and politely ignore the niggly little ones. That same trick, quickly developed, of being able to walk right through the whole floor without seeing anyone, catching anyone's eye, of not hearing that call 'Louise!!'. Maybe even, but hopefully not, that same hard line being taken with precious volunteers to dump them in awful jobs for ages while telling them it's just for half an hour, and praying for forgiveness as you do it.
It was about three o'clock before I started to savour it. By then, I could no longer remember anyone's name, had recruited several stall holders as crew without even hearing their protests that they weren't crew at all, and generally needed to chill out a bit. It was then I realised that this was a unique time for me, that it would never happen quite like this again for me.
So I started, in the midst of the continuing pressure from all around, which didn't respect my decision to chill at all, to look around and to realise that I had got what I set out to create: a happy bunch of people, a friendly atmosphere, a lively and open social occasion. It was hard to take in, it was hard to see how it had happened, it was hard to understand why so many were prepared to put quite so much effort into make it happen this way; above all, it was hard to know how to start to thank them. I still don't.
I barely saw my partner, Donnachaidh, he was in the midst of the same flat out 'run with it' that I was, but luckily, our teamwork from the start was best when we worked entirely independently, it only fell apart when we actually talked to each other! Which worked because until ten that morning he did all the practical stuff and I did most of the people stuff, but now I kept getting asked about practical things: 'Where do I put my stall?', 'Where are tables?', 'Why doesn't the regulator fit the gas bottle?', Where's the kettle?'. Unanswerable!
The venue manager and staff were wonderful, the trestle tables turned up out of the floodwaters they had been stuck in for two days, the roof (nearly) stopped dripping after a month's rain fell on it the previous night. We had a fewer crew than we thought, we knew one of our dj's was in major crisis, but the show just kept on going and solutions were being reported as fast as the problems. The crew soldiered on, the performers got together and created magic, the staff became an autonomous part of the whole. And I went shopping just for a few minutes.
That six while eight slot was tense, and I didn't dare see how things were going. This always was the critical part: keeping the energy going to bridge the gap between afternoon and evening. The staff and performers were working hard on that and there was nothing I could add to it. The toddling Kinkdom found its feet and began to walk, then run, you can only watch and hope, then celebrate as those early steps are taken with confidence.
And Kinkdom the play club ran, straight into a sprint. Kinkdom the kink ball limped, that will take time to really find its feet, but it will. The music was superb, one of the trickiest things to sort out because all we could do was to try to chuck the right people at it and let it go, and the ball will follow the music, not the other way round. Give it a few months, there'll be no stopping it.
I think it was ten o'clock that I fell over, my work done. Tears of joy, tears at the commitment, determination, goodwill and love shown by all those who were part of Kinkdom. 300 people, 21 stalls, 12 hours. A day in the history of Halifax!
We've work to do now, things will change slightly, improve, develop, but the character of Kinkdom is set and will endure.
It's your new club, you asked for it, you worked for it, you supported it. You let Donnachaidh and I front it for you, and we thank you for that honour and respect.

You did a fantastic job Lady A!
I remember being the one's you finally 'chilled out' next to at around 10pm... and it was lovely to see the look of tiredness, yet so very contented, on your face
Utterly superb, and you deserve a well earned rest (although I know you said that sadly there won't be one for sometime), and hope and look forward to attend many more in the future (sadly however, we will miss next month )
Love to you and your partner, and once again, congratulations, and also, thank you for bringing us a wonderful event with a fantastic atmosphere!

There is more to this person than just the submissive.
Take time to explore her, and you will learn there is
so much that can be taken, but also freely given.

My heartfelt thanks to the four or five people who looked after me for that couple of hours of blissed out letting go, precious moments.
