14 Sep 11About time! (5)(14 Sep 11, 7:35 PM by SirOpenSource)
So, the UK government has discovered Keynesian economics at last, spending money on infrastructure to boost the economy and stimulate growth. I can't swear this is as a result of Clegg reading my posts - but I'm requesting a consultant's fee anyway. I'll take it in gold.
11 Sep 11No Witchdoctors for 9/11  (4)(12 Sep 11, 1:06 PM by Insistor)
Michael Bloomberg's decision to exclude religious leaders from the commemoration ceremony at ground zero was certain to ignite the wrath of "the faithful" but it's a very good idea nonetheless, as is the decision not to include public prayers. [more...]

23 Aug 11Exclusive like the Mafia? (3)(25 Aug 11, 1:56 AM by Insistor)
Why is it that some internet sites make it so difficult to register? I'm not talking about Let's Bomb the Pentagon or Burglars Hints but seemingly innocent, innocuous sites like The Acoustic Guitar Forum. [more...]
22 Aug 11Cheaper petrol ...... (6)(23 Aug 11, 5:20 PM by HandyD)
... as a result of Gaddafi's imminent fall? Don't hold your breath. But at least we're guaranteed a more stable situation in Libya. Cameron has his own people working on that. Kinda hope it's not the same team that maintained order in Croydon.
18 Aug 11Blackmail man (1)(18 Aug 11, 10:21 AM by SheilaBlyge)
It may come as a shock to some devoted admirers but I've never been considered a fashion icon. Tracking down the latest hot item in designer clothing has never been a big issue for me. Finding a sweatshirt without too obvious a soup stain is more in my line. However, an item in the fashion news has somewhat tickled my interest. The news that Abercrombie & Fitch, the clothing company, is offering “substantial payment” to Mike (The Situation) Sorrentino, of the show Jersey Shore, to stop him wearing their clothes is just too good to be overlooked by those of us with an eye to an easy buck. [more...]
10 Aug 11Riots good for Business (8)(13 Aug 11, 12:06 AM by Insistor)
It's a tragedy for the innocent preople caught up in the riots but viewed objectively the disturbances will probably mean a boost for Britain's economy. They represent a form of Keynesian stimulation like railway building or a good war. Think of all the repairs and rebuilding that will have to be done stimulating the building industry - plus the multiplier effect. [more...]
7 Aug 11Tottenham High Road (2)(7 Aug 11, 9:34 PM by Insistor)
I used to live just off Tottenham High Road. Its on fire they tell me. I wonder if it will affect the premises of the man who made me that dodgy suit back in 19.....
4 Aug 11The secret of Money (7)(6 Aug 11, 10:54 PM by Insistor)
Everybody wants it. Nobody has it. Except for the international bankers who run the world (and create the boom/slump pattern of the business cycle - if you believe all the experts on youtube). [more...]
24 Jul 11Amy - fuck it another good one down (6)(25 Jul 11, 11:08 PM by Insistor)
One of the Brothers Karamazov (the Dostoyevsky novel not the jugglers) says something to the effect that if god exists, he has to be a bastard. What better proof of this than the fact that any musician /performer that is any good has to die young - leaving us with Cliff Richard. You might not have liked Amy's fiddler's-bitch behaviour, drug abuse, choice of partners or hairstyle but you have to grant that she could sing. [more...]
23 Jul 11bodice ripping ... (7)(24 Jul 11, 9:20 AM by Insistor)
Has anybody here ever done this or been on the receiving end - and lived to tell the tale? I don't mean as part of a BDSM encounter or with an established partner but with some comparatively new object of lust in an ordinary vanilla situation [more...]

11 Jul 11Rebekah Brooks to run police force?(11 Jul 11, 1:04 PM by Insistor)
He may not get BSkyeB (unless he buys it up cheap in the wife's name) but, now that his elusive friend, David Cameron, is set to privatise what public services Thatcher left us, I'm expecting the Digger to make a bid for the police force/"service" - after all he is already paying most of their wages - allegedly. [more...]
6 Jul 11We hack Murdoch daily. (1)(6 Jul 11, 10:11 PM by Malbon)
I have to reveal that the Murdoch empire is being hacked regularly by brits in France. Sky is unavailable legally here but thousands watch its programmes. Naturally we get the same mind-numbing shit he feeds those in the UK but at least we don't have to pay for it. If the "'Orrible Ausie"'s scam were to go tits up - as it surely deserves to - maybe we'd get something better - but somehow I doubt it.
5 Jun 11The most irritating advert . (19)(5 Jun 11, 5:43 PM by Amante_Velora)
Apparently, viewers have voted the Lawyers for You ad the most irritating on tv. I can't agree. Clearly, it's mildly irritating to hear the guy in the suit drone on about "real lawyers" when he's recognisably some bit-part actor. But for real cursing at the box, groping for the zapper annoyance, the winner had to be that ugly, monosyllabic, bulldog from Churchill .. [more...]
2 Jun 119/11 the truth! (13)(5 Jun 11, 10:18 AM by Insistor)
The twin towers were destroyed by conspirators from the Rand Corporation, a sinister organisation founded by objectivist philosopher, Ayn Rand, who failed to perceive that social mammals including humans routinely commit acts of suicidal heroism suggesting we're not all solely motivated by self interest. [more...]
31 May 11Last Tango in Paris (6)(2 Jun 11, 12:12 AM by Plein_Soleil)
There have been lots of interpretations of this movie often from a feminist perspective. To me it is still an interesting look at the enduring ambiguities and contradictions of the man/woman relationship from the male point of view. [more...]

21 May 11Rapture? - the dead have risen! (8)(23 May 11, 7:14 PM by Insistor)
I kid you not. The dead have come to life beneath my feet. I detonated that f......g mole for sure, last week, with my trusty detaupeur and this morning there are his annoying little soil-heaps once again. It's too soon for another of his accursed kind to have moved in - so there can be only one explanation - Holy Jesus I'm a believer!
