| The first record single I can remember buying with my pocket money was 'Black Pudding Bertha' by the Goodies in 1975. Not a great musical masterpiece by far but at that time I avidly watched the Goodies and being a child their surreal wackiness appealed to me. Later at the age of 10 I can remember two other singles I bought, one was Billy Joel's 'My Life' and the other was The Jacksons and 'Blame it on the Boogie'. I guess the latter song typified the era, Disco was at its height and I recall the summers being long and hot. [more...] | ||

| I got dragged along to see the new Clint Eastwood movie 'Gran Torino' this evening and I can honestly say it turned out to be really, really good. It wasn't what I expected at all and it evoked a range of emotions from laugher to sadness throughout. There's also a real message within the movie. [more...] | ||

| So, 2008 has passed, it was probably my most active year on the scene, relationship wise and going out and about too. Do I have any regrets? None really, though on reflection there's been times when I haven't handled things too well purely down to my own feelings or the fact I can appear to be distant at times. The year started off with me taking a sub role for the first time, it wasn't planned and I know the other person involved wasn't plotting it either, it just happened and we went on a journey for a few months to 'see what would happen'. | On visiting my dad on Wednesday I discovered him bleeding quite profusely. It was from an inflamed wound on his stomach following a minor hernia operation a couple of weeks ago. I took him to the small local hospital who quickly transferred him to a larger hospital about 20 miles away. Today he was diagnosed with 'MRSA'. I don't really know much about it to be honest but I do know it can be a killer, so understandably I'm not feeling too great at the moment. [more...] | ||

| Last night I went with friends to see the veteran comedian and magician Jerry Sadowitz play a secret warm up gig at the Approach pub in Nottingham situated on Friar Lane. The Sunday night comedy slot is called 'Just the Tonic' and hosts a variety of upcoming and established comedians, though I suspect they'd never had anyone of Sadowitz's outlandish character there before.
