| As all 6mm hemp, for example, is not the same, I have been faced with the problem of describing the differences. As a result, I have now developed an eight point grading system to cover all the characteristics of different ropes. | Convolvulos/harper and I wanted to create our forum as we felt there was a place for a dedicated bondage board, unconstrained by the censorship that we have experienced elsewhere. I don't like it but I'm not going to blame them. It's their playground, they make the rules. This is our playground. I think it's going to be more like a bar, than a church meeting as harper and I both have a reputation for plain speaking. | I've just been dipping into Bondage, Rope & Power and also reading the latest interview with Osada Steve. It has confirmed what I have been thinking for a while: there are several elements to learning to tie. Most tutorial information only deals with the technical aspect of creating a tie and this is a mere fraction of what it is about. To understand only the technical is like making love mechanically from a list of actions, what I call 'tying parcels'. Hopefully, I get the other elements across in my classes. [more...] | ||

| I've just heard that Manuel Vason, the photographer who took the amazing zentai pictures on my profile, is going be involved in the Festival of the Art of Japanese Bondage. I'm hoping he will exhibit prints of this series and do a talk. Anyway, we are due to chat about it over a beer in the next few days. | ||

| It transpires that Nawashi Murakawa has some personal photos and video from when he met the great man himself! For those that don't know late Akechi was regarded as THE grand-master of shibari. When he was alive, he was the undisputed No1...since his death, there has been much dispute over who takes his crown. [more...] | ||

| That's the final name we decided on anyway. Anyway, things are going apace with this event. It's amazing the support we are getting and the interesting talents that are coming out of the woodwork. A big thank you to all those on board so far! The latest is Zamil, quite probably the best nawashi in the West, who trained extensively with Osada Steve in Tokyo and also runs the Berlin Osada Ryu (kinbaku school). [more...] | ||

| Afte poking around the antique print shops of Tokyo recently, I made a rather extravagant purchase...erh, art investment: http://www.esinem.com/Misc/Adachi%20Moor.jpg (click to enlarge). This woodblock print by Yoshitoshi, dated 1885, depicts the famous story of the hag of 'The Lonely House on Adachi Moor', an evil woman who preyed on unborn children to provide her master with blood to drink. | As some of you might know, Westminster are piloting fees for bike parking. You can be sure that unless we nip it in the bud, your local council will be next to jump on this new gravy train.
