| 25 Mar 07 | Now Is The Time To Say Goodbye. Goodbye! (6) | (25 Mar 07, 8:30 PM by DillyTante) |
| Is there an ideal moment to deliver a parting comment before walking away or hanging up the telephone? How do you say what needs to be said, ('Goodbye.'), leave it at that and then end transmission? [more...]

| 22 Jan 07 | Underlay! Underlay! (16) | (24 Jan 07, 12:10 PM by DillyTante) |
| I've not encountered a dentist socially. I'm guessing that dentists do socialise with civilians, it's just that I've not met one in that context. Either that or for fear of career related, social discrimination, they disguise themselves as artists, plumbers or accountants instead. It's likely therefore that my perception of dentists isn't as objective as it might be. [more...]

| 4 Nov 06 | Whistling and Ms. Hasslesome Mumper. (12) | (6 Nov 06, 2:08 PM by DillyTante) |
| Unlike some who discuss their animal companions on IC, I've felt cautious when mentioning my significant other. I was reluctant to discuss my dog in any detail. I couldn't do it I felt, without also having to explain my feelings about whistling. [more...]

| 14 Oct 06 | Sex and Death. (8) | (16 Oct 06, 8:35 AM by DillyTante) |
| Somewhere along the line, I heard or read that the presence of death will prompt increased sexual arousal in human adults. That it's a biological imperative. An unconscious acknowledgement that one of the species has gone and needs replacing. I don't know how true that is. It may be no more than observational theory supported by anecdotal evidence only. [more...]

| 4 Oct 06 | Pasta Sauce. (9) | (5 Oct 06, 10:47 PM by MarcusStrapp) |
| I'm having a tranquil evening. I'm pottering, or perhaps faffing. Either way, it's calm and pleasant. Dog is snoring on the sofa and the telly is mumbling in the background, I've been mooching around on IC while considering the several things I'd like to blog about - and I'm making an Italian style tomato sauce. [more...]

| 28 Sep 06 | Admitting a Problem. (31) | (29 Sep 06, 6:18 PM by Insistor) |
| It's taken me a while to reach this point of shamed acknowledgement. I've felt uneasy, certainly. I've known that most don't do it as much as I do. I did think though, that with a couple of exceptions I'd kept my self-indulgence within acceptable bounds. [more...]

| 9 Sep 06 | A Seafarer's Snog. (8) | (9 Sep 06, 9:39 PM by Cicero) |
| This week, I've resumed interrupted lessons with an elderly lady, who I number among one of my dearest friends. She wants to learn how to use her computer. I want to teach her. With wry understatement, I admit this shared ambition, doesn't always guarantee success. [more...]

| 13 Aug 06 | I Really Wanted Chips With That. (15) | (13 Aug 06, 4:38 PM by bohemian) |
| At around four o'clock this morning, I had an opportunity to reacquaint myself, with my inner Old Battleaxe. I was snoring peacefully, when my dog let out a muffled and uncertain 'Ooph'. Well versed in dog speak, I can tell you that 'Ooph' translates as, 'I'm fairly certain I shouldn't be barking, but I can't help it. I heard something. Err. Maybe.' [more...]

| 2 Nov 05 | The Thing. (20) | (3 Nov 05, 1:25 PM by DillyTante) |
| I've spent no end of time, trying to formulate a blog which might adequately describe, what an oddly lovely time I've been having recently. Frankly, I'm a bit shell shocked. I feel as if I've accidentally been on seven days unplanned holiday from my life, without leaving my own territory. A holiday, which was as wonderful as it was unexpected. [more...]

| 22 Oct 05 | How Many Oil Wells Do You Have? (23) | (24 Oct 05, 4:48 PM by DillyTante) |
| I've seen a few blogs and posts just recently, discussing the difficulties of clear communication. This is one of my hot topics – a personal bete noire, because of my own struggles with it. Struggles, which on occasion have driven me to withdraw from some social contact, because sometimes, I feel that no matter how hard I try, I fail to communicate my thoughts effectively. Just as unpleasantly, I can find myself unsure that I've fully understood what is being said to me - and it can seem just too much like painfully hard work. [more...]

| 1 Oct 05 | Small Pleasures (9) | (5 Oct 05, 10:07 PM by English_Hellfire) |
| I was heading off for an evening totter around my wood tonight, when I was asked for directions to Wotsit Farm, which doubles as a camp-site. As I've mentioned previously, I am directionally challenged, so normally such a request makes my heart sink. On occasion, rather than wave vaguely and then babble incomprehensibly, I've been known to bend the truth and claim to be new to the area. [more...]
