Baby steps at the BBB (9)

We were late as usual. A hangover, a couple of unplanned detours and 1.5 hours after it opened, I finally arrived at the BBB. I could tell we were in the right place by the number of fetish-clad folk wandering in and the board outside.
The entry fee is £5, which is small enough to not hurt the purse and large enough to keep out the undesirables. While I paid in cash, it looks like those who prefer plastic wouldn't have an issue sticking the fee on their flexible friend. This was echoed in most stalls as well as the restaurant.
From a newbie point of view, the layout is brilliant. The stalls are spaced out nicely, not so close that you can distinguish them nor too far apart that the venue looks empty. They are also spread across multiple floors, though while I was there, the top floor didn't appear to be in use. Still, there was plenty to see indoors as well as out and even on the landing between the floors.
Having quickly found and purchased two basic floggers from Freak Clubwear and been given a lovely intro to florentining (how nice are they?!), it was time to wander around and not buy everything I liked the look of.
The main thing about the BBB that really stayed with me was the lack of sales pressure. Nearly every stall I stopped by was manned by friendly people who knew their stuff but didn't pressure me to purchase anything. Cards were given out without fuss and the enthusiasm when explaining how their products worked was fantastic. Course, I'm a little biased having fallen in love with some furry gloves with sharp nails after a quick demo mmmm. All that pleasure and then the pain, but I digress.
Would I give it the thumbs up? Yes, the facilities were clean, restaurant was basic (tea, coffee, bacon and sausage barms and the like) but yummy and well priced. The prices at the stalls varied from quite good ( a pinwheel was half the price I'd paid elsewhere and some places had discounts ) to shocking. Bearing in mind you get to try things out, get advice and no pressure to buy, it's worth a visit even if you think the prices are eye-watering as you can make an informed choice
On the social side, it's a chilled out atmosphere with a mix of seasoned sceners and newbies. You never know who you'll bump into round the next corner. Just resting your feet in one of the cosy lounge areas is an ideal place to have a chat and make new friends.
While I may not be back next month ( someone blew her toy budget right out of the water ), it's been pencilled in for future spending sprees and lovely days out.

We only made one purchase today, it was from Richard Larsen and I can't wait for it/them to arrive
Also fell even more in love with Addictions beautiful corsets etc and the most gorgeous Kimono.
Still trying to persuade Jon to buy some stuff from Addiction for himself and think I have cracked him, with some rather helpful and honest advice from Princess Fis partner in crime who looked great

I love the BBB and try to go every month, It is always full of the most fantastic people who are always ready and willing to have a chat. You did say the top floor was out of use, thats because thats where they hold the monthly demo, this month it was the art of the cane which was very informative, funny and fantastic to watch. Fuck you and your last Rolo.

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the BBB and even more that you have fallen in love with your Paws n Claws (your furry glove) which is a product we came up with several years ago and have proved a resounding success!!!
It was lovely to meet you and hopefully we'll see you again at BBB soon

I've been to the BBB for some years, not so often these days due to ill health- tho' I did a stall with my stainless steel collars and stuff a few months ago. It is a great place and I like it as visitor and dealer. |
