| I have just been watching the BBC documentary about the Penlee Lifeboat disaster, and found it incredibly moving. The bravery and sacrifice of those volunteers, who put to sea in 50 ft waves to save a Dutch ship drifting onto rocks, is unbelievable. Having saved most of the ship's crew as it foundered on the rocks, the lifeboat itself was lost with all on board as they attempted to save the last two crew members. [more...] | ||

| The more yuppies and beezneez people that move into my street the more I hate my neighbours. I've lived around here most of my life, it used to be a relaxed, bohemian mix of people. Now over half the street is snotty sales and city types with a merc for the hubby and a 4x4 for mumsy to do the school run. They move in and the first thing they want to do is develop their property to push up the value, to the detriment of the local environment. Now we've got this dick in a Goldman-Sachs polo shirt, wife, two small kids. First he's complaining about parking, now he wants to dig out a new floor [more...] | ||

| I was thinking of taking Romola cycling in an idyllic, quiet, unspoilt area of France where I spent a lot of time cycling and canoeing in my youth. Doing a route check to see how far it was to drive I find there is a new Autoroute right through the middle of it. | ||

| Subs, there's nothing like having a Dom work you over with a baseball bat! A couple of full force whacks in the face are such a rush! If you don't have a baseball bat try half a brick - even yummier! Of course you can trust the Dom to have the self control, skill, experience, and knowledge of human anatomy to do it safely, and even if they don't the risk is half the thrill! | ||
