The Albert Watson exhibition at the City Art Centre on Market Street has around nine fetish pictures in a collection of amazing photographs by a local man not really known in these parts. One of the pictures is in the window beside the door so you can make a decision before parting with your fiver. |

Please go to this exhibition. Albert Watson should be a local hero. "There's nothing an agnostic can't do, if he really doesn't know whether he believes in anything or not....." M Python. Sums me up really. |

Yes the fetish pics are pretty gasp-inducing, although for me they were eclipsed by the fascinating landscapes and bizarre studies of automobiles, taken around Las Vegas. Worth noting that for your fiver you also get to see an exhibition of posters by contemporaries of Toulouse-Lautrec, and (in the basement) an exhibition of paintings of Anne Redpath and the "Edinburgh School". The last, alas, I didn't get to see - I bought my ticket at ten minutes past four (the earliest time I could get into Edinburgh), not realising that Festival notwithstanding, the chucking-out process begins at ten to five so I never made it to the basement. |
