They should really warn you about growth spurts before you even think about having a baby. Little Len just came out of a three day long one...last night she fed for eight hours with no break longer than five mintues (and that was to change her!)...honestly, half hour on left boob, then swap to right, then left, etc etc until I lost track...
Also, noone tells you that your body will conspire against you...as soon as she went to sleep after the feeding marathon I totally forgot how stressed out I'd been and the fact that I'd been crying for hours...F is convinced that I'm insane.

the above is the most wonderful thing in the universe...there are loads of different ways to tie it...including one for hands free breastfeeding (Yay!)and Len sleeps wonderfully in it, as I write she's snoring on my chest...
Only annoying thing about having such a dinky baby, you can't get scratch mits small enough that she doesn't just flap them off, so she has scratched herself to bits...
In other news, erm, I think the fact that I won't be cleared for sex for another three weeks has done something to F's sex drive as he can't seem to leave me alone! Tis lovely actually...and here was I expecting to have no sex life after Len was born!
Actually, we have been more interrupted by the endless stream of visitors than we have by the baby...and I thought my sex drive was supposed to plummet after giving birth, but I'm constantly horny...
My Mum and Grandad are re-vamping our garden for us...angels that they are...it looks soooo much bigger already!
Still enjoying things and my first week without F (as he's back at work) has not been anywhere near as stressful as I thought it would be!

can I just offer a note of caution here, one of my babies, my eldest, used to feed that way and it was because he was still hungry, I just wasn't producing enough high quality milk...I think because I was completely stressed out. Not suggesting that's the case here but it might be something you want to keep an eye on or ask your midwife for advice.
Take care, it's quite lovely to read the baby blogs, even if just to remind me that those days are long gone in this house www.croydonmunch.co.uk |

if she's actually feeding you can see the muscle near her ear moving as she takes a deep suck.... babies often stay on the breast and just comfort suckle for long lengths of time... they may take the occassional bit of foremilk as its warm weather.... if you are happy having her there there is no harm done. But its doubtful she's actually feeding for that long. Like Toria says sometimes babies who aren't feeding properly stay on that long...as do babies who aren't getting milk for some other reason... but as long as she is latching on properly (and the ear movememnt thing and swallowing happens and she is putting on weight... then she'll be fine). redcat "I'd rather learn from one bird how to sing |

She's fine...lots of sucking muscle action, putting on piles of weight...midwife thinks she's just having a growth spurt! Pinkxxx A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. |
