I just dug up a link with loads of paraphilia, I can't think of a better place to compare thoughts of things that make you confused or even sickened just from thinking about them enough let alone doing them.

What is your take on going beyond the borders to venture into things associated with everyday things like mannequins insects etc or even with disease or death?

For example

Agalmatophilia: sexual attraction to statues or mannequins or immobility

Apotemnophilia: desire to have (or sexual arousal from having) a healthy appendage (limb, digit, or male genitals) amputated

Crush fetish: sexual arousal from seeing small creatures being crushed by members of the opposite sex, or being crushed oneself

Frotteurism: sexual arousal from the recurrent urge or behavior of touching or rubbing against a nonconsenting person.

Harpaxophilia: sexual arousal from being the victim of a robbery or burglary

Teratophilia: sexual attraction to deformed or monstrous people

Vorarephilia: sexual attraction to being eaten by, and/or eating, another person or creature

Plushophilia: sexual attraction to stuffed toys or people in animal costume, such as theme park characters

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paraphilia ....

everyone has some of these, I know I lean towards criminal kinds of fantasies but I think most people think of those a lot.

So at what point is it not actually turning you on just giving you a thrill on a different level? It's not actually erotic in any sense just extreme. like skydiving.

And what about if a robber robs a house and says sorry I have condition whereby burglary is part of my sexuality and that should be respected.

Yes I am evil, I am always shocking the boards like Vlad the Impaler through my shite spelling and smarmy opinions-I am mad evil flippant so keep holy water and throw it at the monitor to be safe.

SM is a paraphilia. You have caning on your profile, you're a suufferer.

Sorry, I must have missed it....! Please could you point out to me which of the above "paraphilias" is about caning?

That is a list of examples and is by no means exhaustive as I recall from last time I looked at a list of various fetishes and kinks...

However dynamics modify the universe it is the moment of life which protects history.

I don't know if I am interested in caining in a sexual sense, more interested in it from the sociological point of view but I am interested in it I probably wouldn't bother with anything so corny myself my interests are kind of rigorous and different.

There is a link in the middle with all the definitions and information you would wish for, for example (in Greek para παρά = besides and '-philia' φιλία = love)

Is there a word for people who get turned on by reading lists of obscure sexual fetishes? :)

Then I suggest you read the OP again as it says "For example:" just before the list starts.

best stay at home then...and definitely don't attend any BDSM events... and are you sure you are ok typing to the rest of us perverts, some of it may rub off in the reading?

The rule is, jam tomorrow and jam yesterday - but never jam today.

Didn't CSI-Vegas do an episode with this in?

*snickers furtively* :P

And chartreuse uses a double negative, so maybe she does want an encounter? :)

(Edited to add: I am just about to remove "caning" from my profile - I'm not currently in the mood for it!) :)

You have, or had, caning on your profile, and that would normally indicate that you intend to either be hit by, or hit someone else with, the cane. This would indicate an interest in feeling pain or inflicting pain, sadomasochism in other words.

Sadomasochism is a paraphilia, just like the ones listed in the op, which it was made clear was not a full list. In the eyes of the psychologists you're no different, you are a sufferer. Most of society will feel the same about you as anyone else who is regarded as having a paraphilia and will probably hope to never meet a sufferer.

Please tell me how you will know who is a sufferer of paraphilias or not, and why would it be unlucky to meet one, as if you've been to any of the clubs and munches thoughout the UK you already have.

And a quick google search will give you the complete, and correct, definition of paraphilia.

Philia just means "love for" or "passion for". It has nothing to do with abnormality.

I just tried to find a definition of "paraphilia".

The only way I was able to achieve an understanding of the word was to break it down into two components "Para" and "Philia" - the two words that I found to be the most relevant to the above "paraphilic kinks" were: "Para = Beyond" & "Philia = abnormal".

Put them together and you get "Beyond Abnormal"!

IMHO I think is a very apt way of describing people who are unfortunate enough to suffer these "desires".

None of them would be my "kink" and I hope I am never unlucky enough to encounter anyone who is a sufferer.

Hello, first post from Spotted Bottom Dash Dick on I.C. To those who know me - don't let my spoofy image make you think that all my posts will be spoofy too.

I've had a look at what pops up on google on definitions of the word paraphilia, and it looks like you could write an essay on it and still be undecided. I notice that some things used to be considered paraphilias and now are not (e.g. Homosexuality).

What appeals to me in the word paraphilia is an idea that I may have invented - that the word means parallel love. So to my impression, to be a paraphile is not to be a deviant (as there is nothing to deviate from) or pervert (nothing to pervert) or fetishist.

My creative understanding of the word helps when I consider furry tendencies, strange genital stirrings for cartoon characters (Betty Rubble)and mild fascinations centred on robots and the like.
