Missing person in USA - request for help? (8)

A very close friend of mine has gone missing whilst on a weeks holiday to Boston.

He went for a week to meet up with a gay top over there. The police over there have been informed, a missing persons report issued and the guy my friend went to see has been visited. All seems okay... but I found it somehow worrying that when the police were told this guys name (just his name) they knew what area he lived in and that my friend was gay..... without being told.

Apparently this guy put my friend on a bus (not sure to where) last Monday and hasn't heard from him since.

The culmination to the weeks visit was supposed to be a trip to a world famous tattooist in Boston on the Wed (as part of a final scene), which I KNOW my friend was really, really looking forward to, but which never happened. The guy he went to visit rang and cancelled the appt. on the Tues.

My friend was due back in the UK on Thurs/Fri early hrs.

Obviously anyone would be concerned (and I can FULLY sympathise with any possible wish to go 'walk-about' for a while to get away from some of the shit he's been going through) - but am I over-reacting when I say that the hairs on the back of my neck are prickling?

Anyway - I may have got this wrong, but I seem to remember that a fellow IC member asked for help in tracing someone in America last yr and was able to get some good some guidance/suggestions. I can't remember if the person (who was traced successfully) was missing or if it was more a case of lapsed contact between the parties involved. But, if anyone has any ideas or advice/guidance to offer, it would be very gratefully received.

But if nothing else - and you are feeling so inclined - well, some good wishes and positive thoughts would surely not go amiss.

Many thanks

B

Im really not sure about tracing missing people over there, perhaps the British Consulate/Embassy could help? I do hope he is found safe and well.

not sure if you are on Live Journal, and /or on any of the groups on there, but there was some stuff on there re a missing person (scene) and people who lived in the area helped to find her.

i hope you find him soon - I was in the States with a gay friend and he went missing one night after a night out in San Antonio - and I was petrified.

EDIt he did turn up late morning after a very adventurous night - i was relived , then rather annoyed with him- but he had a great time!

Sincerely hope that he turns up safe and well so that you can then tell him off and give him lots of hugs.

I'm not, but that's such a good idea I may soon be!

British Consul are being wonderful apparently. I just hate sitting here feeling useless.

I know it sounds daft, but despite his (very!) varied and extensive life experience for his age, he's one of the sweetest, most trusting, loving and genuinely innocent people I know. I'm in pieces worrying that he's gonna get taken advantage of by a charming predatory man and wind up getting hurt - either physically OR emotionally.

Thanks for the posts tho...

Isn't it odd how in the dawn hours of a damp cold morning, words of condolence from strangers can be such a comfort? Long may it last I say!

xx
