Well, a quick look around suggests that I don't know anyone here anymore. No, that's not true. I see a weblog from at least one person that I know (and like and respect and all those good things very much, and in real life, even!). And a couple from people I've met. And a couple from people whom I remember from blogs of long ago.
To those of you whom I see have sent me memos ... sorry! I have now read them, having only recently started to grasp the complexities of the new and improved (if you can count a year and a half or so as new) IC site. Networks -- my goodness!
For those of you who don't know me ... ooh, what a wonderful opportunity to talk about myself. Haven't been using the "cerrynn" nick much of late ... it always was more of an online nick than a general scene nick. I am the collared submissive, partner-in-crime and (!) wife of Matou. We hang out at Ceasars and do the occasional demo at the BBB (yes, I'm the tall, mouthy, middle-aged, show-off American who shows up there from time to time).
A few months ago I had a small shock. Presently I work as a PA to a partner in a law firm. From time to time if my boss is not around and potential new clients come in I am called upon to see them, to have a little chat, to see what we can do to help ... you get the drift. Anyway, a few months ago I was asked to do this. I went down and introduced myself to a charming gentleman in reception, took him back toward the office where we would be having our little chat, and ... the charming gentleman said, "I know you!"
"Oh?" said I.
... and if I had the sense God gave my cat I would have been able to make a guess as to how he knew me, but not having that much sense, I was clueless.
"And I know Matou, too." (Actually he used my wonderful Dom/lover/husband/s Christian name, but no matter.)
"Oh!" said I. The light was beginning to dawn here. "From ... ?"
"... the BBB. I've seen one or two of your demos."
"Oh!!" said I, smiling brightly. (we are still in the hall that goes from our office's reception area to the stairs which lead up to the destination offices ... no one immediately there, but still sorta/kinda public. Not that anyone who works at my little law office would know what "the BBB" was ...
... or would they!?!?!)
"Don't worry, it's all right," the charming gentleman reassured me. Which was unnecessary reassurance, but lovely on his part.
Why unnecessary? Perhaps it was necessary, but I tend to assume (perhaps overly optimistically) that pretty much all of us in the scene understand that What We Do is a wonderful thing, And that equally pretty much of all of us understand that the world at large either:-
1. Doesn't care what we do on our own time; or
2. Thinks what we do is perverted/sick/pathetic/choose your pejorative, but in the greater scheme of things doesn't care what we do on our own time; or
3. Thinks what we do is perverted/sick/pathetic/choose your pejorative and would like to implement laws to prevent us from doing such things on our own time and would like all of us who do such things to be:-
a. sacked, and/or
b. imprisoned, and/or
c. stoned in the market place (no, not that Market Place; the nasty, intolerant lower-case market place)
And understanding this, like the charming gentleman who came to seek legal advice from our firm and ended up being confronted with a woman whom he had seen taking her clothes off in front of a hundred-odd people on the occasional Sunday afternoon in Birmingham, I think most of us smile and say nothing, or smile and say "it's all right."
( ... but wouldn't it be fun if once, just once, we could REALLY tell them what we REALLY do on our weekends?)
Well, that's me for the next year and a half, I guess (given my current blog-rate). Take care, all ... and much love and many kisses to all those whom I know whom I shamefully neglect!
To Matou ... ai shiteru, Sensei, itsumo ...

When I moved more widely in the BDSM event world I kind of lived in expectation of that happening. I still do have those moments where I meet people and think, now where do I know you from...... On the one hand it's a pity we have to be secretive and yet on the other hand I like my personal life being a mystery to people. I'm twice damned, a submissive masochist and mistress of a married man. I occasionally get stoned on here, never mind out there in the real world. Nice to see you popping in. alex xx Be careful what you wish for

It's the perennial dread isn't it. So far I have bumped into the barman of our favourite pub at the BBB and have found two people on IC that I already knew - one from work and one from flying. In each case I think they were more nervous than I was Since the guy who put in our bathroom outed us to the entire village (who then refused to believe him!) I've ceased to let it worry me much.
Oh, and welcome back! Better not be missus, you are both missed! I am still waiting to be approached in a vanilla setting from someone that I know from the bdsm arena. It used to terrify me, but these days doesn't scare me quite so much. How can it, when anyone who knows me through that part of my life is obviously part of the world themselves? Mind you, it would still give me a momentary stomach flip no doubt; I'll let you know if and when it ever happens. See you both soon hopefully. Have wheels, will travel, Velvet Eden here we come sometime wahey! Love to you both xxx My imaginary friend thinks that you have a problem
