I was musing about the extraordinary number of people (and the number of extraordinary people too) who I've encountered on my odyssey of self-discovery over the past four or five years. Various web sources have been invaluable in helping me to connect with people who have been pivotal in developing my understanding, some translating into real life, some staying online.
Mostly they have breezed in and out of my life, barely pausing for a few brief words, but a number – a significant number – have hung around a while, have shared some good times, occasional bad times, but always enriching times.
Lots breeze in and out on a regular basis, butterflies who pop in for a quick cyber-coffee and a chat, then flutter off until the next time. Others are regular online or real life friends for perhaps a few weeks, or months, and then are gone, disappearing to who knows where, presumably having found whatever they were seeking, or perhaps having decided they don't want it after all.
Whatever the reasons, whatever the motivation, I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you. You have all made my life more full, many of you continue to do so, you have helped me to understand who I am and what I need in life, to separate the important from the trivial, the essential from the optional. You have made me appreciate life and all it has to offer. You have shared parts of your life with me and allowed me to share parts of mine with you.
I know my journey is far from over – and perhaps never will be - but like any odyssey, the travelling is as exciting as reaching the destination, and the travelling companions are certainly agreeable company.

I was so surprised and delighted to be able to meet you at the London munch. Your posts are almost always thought-provoking and many of your comments have really meant a lot to me. So consider this big thanks from me. I hope your journey continues to be just as rich as you want it to be la fée verte

We've never met, never exchanged memos, never chatted on-line, but I will seek out your blogs and respect your opinions on issues. So you see, it's not just the ones you can name who you have touched, whether you meant to or not. Keep it going. Thwack, crack, slap. The soundtrack to my weekend

I wish I could say the same but I didn't find out you were at that munch until I had left - but I echo the rest of the sentiment http://www.glasgowmunch.org.uk/ http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/glasgow_munch/

You are definitly a good chap, and your writing is always thoughtful and incisive.
<waiting for the post xxx Easy? You men have no idea what we're dealing with down there. Teeth placement, and jaw stress, and suction, and gag reflex, and all the while bobbing up and down, moaning and trying to breathe through our noses. Easy? Honey, they don't call it a job for nothin'!

I keep telling you, it's a crime to send offensive material through the post.
You'll have to make do with the pics on here. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars"
