Well today has been fun so far. I've been installing the new kitchen with my dad since 10am this morning. Tis hard work but fun times. Though I was reading a magazine earlier about women who work on the phone as sex thingies and I must say it frustrated me quite a lot. These people were mostly happily married and were just working for money. As you do. However one said that some of the things she hears were quite weird. Like people with fetishes of feet and so forth. I mean why is that weird? It's not exactly my cup of tea personally but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was weird. It's just a fetish, and we all have them. The most annoying part of it all was the closing sentence of one of the ladies was “IM quite lucky though. My husband isn't into all the weird stuff, we have quite a NORMAL sex life” I mean what the fuck? How close minded can you be? Its one of the reasons that BDSM is frowned upon by so many people, because its considered “unnatural” but to be fair I'd have to say, having your own fetishes is more normal than not. Don't you think?

If people only looked at themselves a tad more objectively (tricky I know...apparently impossible according to this cultural theory stuff I'm plowing through for uni - but I digress...) we would discover that people are absolutely round the twist and no one has any right in any way, shape or form to condemn anyone else. This is a really obvious and ordinary point to make so I'll try and liven the tired little thing up by poking it with interesting examples.
If we think about it a frighteningly large number of people wear beige which is as odd a choice for lovely clothing as lycra leopard print. We crave habit...all of us...we brush our teeth in the same pattern every day and what on earth would happen if we tried putting trousers on with the wrong leg first?! Chaps would spend their mornings falling downstairs! Some people like anchovies...I adore olives and black pudding (not together that would in fact make me very ill), I know ladies who will cheerfully ride buses all day long to watch fields and chaps who do the same to draw their names all over the seats. All I mean is that (another ordinary point coming right up) our weirdnesses, our wiggles and oddnesses are what make us all delicious and intruiging. If we were truly normal we'd be rather hopeless and monotonous creatures.
