My mates and dojo colleagues all know, my sensei even told his flatmate when he introduced me to her in the pub. She then started to try pressure points on me to see how I coped with pain.

As for the OP's question, yes everyone I know knows. Some of my pictures are on the wall at home and my mum has been to events.

I have only been unsure what to say once. I asked my sister what she wanted my nephews to know. She said if she's done a good job of bringing them up they'll ask their own questions.

And last time they were here, my eldest nephew -- aged 6 -- asked why I'm dressed as a police lady in a photo in my lounge. I explained that I like to play pretend just like he pretends he's spiderman.

That made sense to him. Then he asked "Aunty, why are you trying to cut your friends head off with the chainsaw?"

And I explained that I like to play pretend games with my friends just like he has play fights with his brother.

That made sense too so his next question was whether I had any chocolate....kids, eh?

I guess the point of this is that I have found I don't tell anyone until they ask but I'm careful I answer any questions in a way that people can understand. They will ask as many questions as they want. My nephew only had two, some people have had many more, and some including my mum and some of my friends have wanted to come and see for themselves.

You have nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to hide. Once you're happy in your own mind its easy to explain to others.

The friends who are close enough to know, do.

I'm not one to discuss my private affairs so casually, nor am I the kind of person who goes for shocking declarations in a social or business situations.

I'm a professional, and relatively typical gal . . . on the outside.

Most my mates know, all my work knows ( as i took my silly high boots in for them to try on) My sister in law just needs official confirmation but she knows and i dont have anything to do with the rest of my family so i dont care if they know or not.

Its not what you say or do, its how you say or do it
Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.

Blimey. I do martial arts, but the people at my club would be the last people ide want to know that im submisive. Your got guts,i couldnt do it.

I made the mistake after a lot of drinks of telling someone, now I admit to a 'Double life'. Its got to the stage I have a W/end dressing up then a weekend out with 'straight' friends. When asked what 'you did last W/End' its a case of, ' watched TV and slept' Sometimes I find it hard marrying my TV habits with BDSM and I am quite shy in a fairly macho. envirns so its best being an honest liar. If you know what I mean.

There seems to have been a lot of positive posts on this one, might make others like me think we are odd so heres mine.

No-one outside of the scene knows, if my colleagues at work did i reckon i would eventually lose my job. I beleive there is a clause is my contract sexual behavour etc.

If any of my family knew a church somewhere would burn down due to the large quantity of candles being lit to save my soul.

I remember the shock and horror coming from one of my friends when i brough up the conversation of oral sex,em so i think no more would need to be brought up there.

So to answer the question,, no i wouldnt tell any of my vanilla friends, colleages or family, i do however have very many friends in the scene who i can talk with and thats fine with me.
