Vanillas and IC access (10)

Well, I just made a (pulled) comment on velvet31's blog regarding how on earth you'd stop a vanilla spouse from accessing this site if they really wanted to.

It's all very well saying you want a forum to talk about your feelings, but, you know, this is the internet, and it's in the public domain. You don't *have* to be kinky to set up a user name here. I can't imagine my vanilla friends really wanting to read all this stuff any more than I'd want to long onto, say, a football bulleting board and read all about the offside rule (unless shoes were involved, of course). But the point is, they could.

It isn't a protected coccoon here in IC.

We cannot stop anyone from seeing it and that is the reason I never post anything I would die if someone found out!

I know that, but you said you were, and I quote:

"not giving him access to this site because i like to feel free to say whatever is in my head here- i wouldnt give it to anyone from my vanilla life, not just him. "

It's a nice thought, but just be aware that there isn't carte blanche for freedom of expression here without people you know ever seeing it.

LOL I don't care if my nilla friends see my ramblings I go out of my way to shock them anyway in real life.

But in actual fact you don't have to set up a user name to look at the site anyway. You can log on as a guest and browse any of the listings without anyone knowing you've even been on the site.

More importantly you don't have to give out your real name, so you don't have to identify yourself

I have found sanctuary for my true feelings on another site for exactly the same reasons you raise concerns about here.

The other site is where my heart bleeds, my desires flow and every dark secret ebbs onto the web canvas....and it feels good.

The other site is private, unless I invite people to view. It's secure...and it's free.

My readers here know how my log style has changed over the years, from explicit to the mundane jottings of daily life.

It's choice.

This web-log board has turned into a message and discussion board, and it's a shame in many ways. the way it is now makes me smile...the dinosaurs of the site can't help butting in and forming opinions on other people's words...but that's life.

I have repeatedly asked Tanos for a section that is access only, but until enough people back the request it will say as it is.

...What you do today is important. You are exchanging a day of your life for it.

With respect, that's not what I was getting at. I imagine loki isn't your real name, but if your partner wanted to have a browse through IC, it might not be so difficult for her to identify you?

It's the ineternet and if you feel that you have something to hide, then stay away from posting it on the internet.

If I would have a partner who doesn't want me to read what they are talking about online, I would have serious issues with trusting them.

What happened to meeting with the best friend at a cafe and rambling about life and the universe etc.???

just my 2p
