Why write a weblog....

I've been pondering on that point for a while after the question was posed.

A pondering ShadowRose is probably a dangerous thing, all things considered since pondering is not far from brooding. A brooding ShadowRose is not something to relish - ask poppet. Actually don't ask poppet, since his basic honesty and desire to do as his Mistress commands might conflict with his loyalty to his Mistress and cause severe damage to his internal logic circuits...

A pondering ShadowRose is also likely to digress a lot, as well as go off into flights of fancy.

QED.

I started writing a weblog so as to expand on the information in my original personal ad. I naively thought that there were so many ads out there that I'd be lucky if I got one or two replies and I wanted to maximise my chances. So I guess you could say I had intended to use it as a tool to pull (if you want to put it crudely, which I don't). In that sense it wasn't intended as an exercise in egotism but more like - sort of - a peacock's display of it's tailfeathers... but it has turned into something quite different.

I've never kept a diary before, but I did always think of them as part confessional, part catharsis as in "Dear diary, I'm telling you this because I daren't tell anyone else" etc. but I didn't expect to find myself being quite so personal and revealing on the net to a potential audience of thousands. I am sometimes surprised at how open I've been and honest, knowing this was for public consumption. I don't mean that I wasn't planning to tell the truth here, I just expected to be somewhat more economical with the revelations than I have been.

It is also more interactive than I expected. I read other peoples logs and sometimes they spark a train of thought - which is how this entry arose. Sometimes I am moved to respond or comment via my log (though I do tend to write personally in many cases).

So my weblog has turned into a snapshot of me as a person, what you read is what you get.. at that given moment. It reflects my moods but obviously isn't the whole truth since there are times when I am too involved, preoccupied, relaxed or down to write - essence of Rose perhaps, but not The Absolute Rose.
