You might recall a small kerfuffle about Jerry Springer - The Opera caused by a particular group of 'ignorant bigots' see www.christianvoice.org.uk

According to The Independent http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/this_britain/ar... Major retail chains have bowed to pressure from a tiny fringe Christian group by withdrawing copies of a the DVD Jerry Springer: The Opera from stores around the UK.

see http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000B3M...

Woolworths and Sainsbury have both taken the unprecedented step of removing the film from shelves because of “customer” concerns about the content of the musical, released three weeks ago. Sainsbury has admitted it received just 10 complaints.

You might like to contact Woolwoths at http://www.woolworthsgroupplc.com/customers/your... and/or Sainsburys at http://www.sainsbury.co.uk/contactus/contactus.h... and tell them exactly what you think of their commercial policies ...

Grins...

Just mailed them...

If I and 10 of my friends were to complain about the sale of Harry Potter videos in your stores due to it being seen as ridiculing our Pagan beliefs would you withdraw that in the way you have withdrawn Jerry Springer the Opera?

I await their replies eagerly.

Before any word leaves your mouth it must be approved by the three gatekeepers;
The first will ask: "Is it true?"
The second will ask: "Is it necessary?"
The third will ask: "Is it kind?" Anon

i suspect sainsburys took it off sale more to do with the fact it doesn't sell well for them (and doesn't fit their stock profile) rather than the complaints.

but as sainsburys are so shit they more than likely have placed it in the fish section.

and while i agree that christian voice were less than christian over the opera a lot of the hoohah over it was whipped up by people like the sun. regardless it still got shown on tv and i still haven't seen it. (mind you it could never match the perverse pleasure of the actual show itself..)
