You're probably better off going to a normal shop and pretending you're buying for a daughter or something as many online retailers of 'specialist' clothes tend to charge over the odds for them. they rely on the buyer's embaressment, but as long as you measure yourself (Waist, Bust, Hips, Skirt length and collar size for the blouse you should have any problems whatsoever. a shop will expect someone coming in to buy for their teenagers as let's face it - what teenager wants to go shopping for school?

kids are growing bigger, quicker, nowadays so larger clothing sizes are becoming part of the standard range.

good luck and if you get a good one and your Master allows you too it would be great to see how it looks on you via a picture on your profile.

Marks and Spencers I would have thought. You can always pretend it's for a younger sister whose your size. Mind you, they're probably all used to it with the number of 'Back to School' parties that people have these days.

During "School uniform Buying Season", marks and Spencers do Pinafores/Gymslips up to age about 14/15 which an adult can fit into. Its about size 12-14 (well, I can get into them anyway)

John Lewis at Brent Cross(I believe) have an adult school uniform department, and you can buy adult sizes there. I also believe the Lewis's in Oxford Street have a department too.

There are LOADS of places on line where you can obtain them, in particular Ebay. But be careful with Ebay as some people tend to up the sizes a bit, and some of them are the cheap and nasty "Adult Fun" ones with the prices hyked.

The girls at my school just used to roll the top of their skirts to lift the hem...

I always go to Bang Bang in Preston for my uniforms. They do big sizes too..I'm a 14, and haven't had a problem finding things to fit..I'm sure they do bigger too. As for the skirts...usually the bigger the waist, the longer they are. I usually take mine up 2-4 inch using iron-on webbing. Pleated skirts- I wouldn't reccomend taking those up yourself, cos it messes the pleats up. You could always take it to a shop to be taken up...or, if it's a good shop, they usually have different length skirts in all the sizes.

yeah, I did that too. although it gave me a rather unpleasant looking 'tyre' around my stomach when I took my jumper off!

another question: what shoes do girls wear with their school uniforms nowadays? god that makes me sound old, I only left school myself 4 years ago, agh! I wore DM shoes but not sure if there's different shoes that tend to be worn now. I don't want to wear trainers cos I think they look odd on me with black tights.
