what to do in Manchester on a wet Sunday afternoon-/evening (7)

This Sunday, Loops and I have the great joy of taking the youngest of the 'mob' and her friend to a concert at Belveue. When we say we have the 'joy' what I mean is that we are the mode of transport for taking them and for picking them back up around 10.30pm. So there is seems to be no point in crossing back over them thar hills....

Has anyone who lives in the Manchester area any ideas as to what we can do while we wile away those hours inbetween. Any where good to eat? etc... and what time are the shops open to?(Yule shopping never goes amiss).

Central Manchester is worth a wander around especially down around the Printworks (search on UCI cinemas its one of there now renamed the Odeon Manchester I think) lots of nice bars eating places (all redeveloped over past few years) there and designer shop although shut of course oh and mini version of the London eye if you fancy a ride.

I know a good chinese buffet. If you're interested I can ask Stu for the details.

I've heard good things about the Mongolian buffet too but I've nevr been as it was quite pricey and it looked quite meat orientated.

EDITED edited cause I'm stupid... I read Saturday when you said Sunday...

eatery wise there is loads... Taurus and the moonbar are two rather good eatery places, as is The olive press, which is just off deansgate and if you can get there and in before 7pm is 2 courses for £10

there are also several chinese all you can eat places, persnoally I reccomend the Tai Wu on Oxford Road or the Number1 on Whitworth street (one of which you will probably find us at after the munch)

the mongolian bbq is great, and you create all your own dishes so can have no meat in it what so ever, the only downside is if you don't want your food cooked alongside meat, which is a pain if you are allergic or kosher, or halal...

China Town is always open....just down the street is the gay village, Canal Street (it has been changed to anal treet by some wag)loads of bars and the meal at Via Fossa is lovely.

Or the trafford Centre is not far out but check the traffic before you go.
