Two things that have managed to annoy me recently, the chief one first:
- Someone turning up at a fairly seedy and sleazy event where pretty much anything goes with, of all things, an incredibly closed mind. I don't mean closed in the sense of my rant about scene intolerance for certain fantasies that obviously skirt the grounds of many people's taste (even mine on occasion). I mean someone who you can mention the idea of sucking toes to and the reply is "ah that's disgusting, I would never do that". In fact you can ask such a person almost anything and their replies will be "hate that"... "thats disgusting"... "really hate that"..."would never do that"
...someone whose homophobia has reached such a studied honed perfection that the fact of other sexually active men, perhaps specifically submissive men, existing in the same universe, let alone the same room as them seems to be a personal afront to them.
This is the Fetish of Hate. To get off on turning up somewhere seedy to note how utterly disgusting and reprehensible everyone elses interests are in casual, if stilted conversation. You ask them what they are in fact into and they mumble something about being a dom*, which I suppose in this case was nothing more than some sort of code for "Would you mind getting out of the way of the women you are hanging out with, I would like to try and fuck one of them, or perhaps beat them" (since every other possibility had just about been denounced as perverted).
Well that was what my Sunday morning paranoid mind was interpreting anyway. Stopped me from catching much needed sleep.
-Someone, having categorised me as a "sensation" player without consulting me, deciding to launch into an unsubstantiated critique of the technique of whoever has just been playing with me. Well, I guess it isn't as bad as interfering in an ongoing scene but still, perfect way to kill the mood just after an intimate moment. A good scene isn't like conducting a threepoint turn or raising profits by 20% before the end of the financial year. The post-play discussion should be between the players and any onlooker THEY see fit to consult.
What grumpiness. Who would have guessed I had one of my favourite nights out on the scene.
*not in anyway a slur on doms in general. Just a pity that creeps sometimes decide to self-identify as doms.

I think personally it is the Fetish-of-Fear. Fear for the unknown, for what they cannot comprehend and probably for what they might feel deep inside stirring but it scares the hell out of them. But yes, whatever you call it; it is annoying and avoiding these people is the only way to be happy in this life. You are probably right. Underlying the hate is a genuine (some might say even reasonable) fear of their own sexuality. But yes, the thing that actually bites at others is the hate, the thing that totally ruins the mood.
