I don't think there is a need to ban fake profiles. Instead just have the last two bytes of the poster's IP addressed displayed on the post, in the same way the time and date is. It would mean a 1 in 65,536 chance of the two addresses being from different places. Only showing the last two bytes would stop anyone being traced. | ||

The problem as I once tried to explain to the IRCops on irc.bondage.com when they once banned the whole of Freeserve because someone on that ISP had offended one of them (not me till I lost patience explaining) is that many ISPs use dynamic IP addresses so that the dotted quad changes at each connection. ^Thunder^ = UK Essex BDSM |
