But for heaven's sake, anaesthetic drugs, as far as drugs go, are not so scary.

Try telling all the dead glue/butane sniffers that its not scary.

Having been accidently exposed to Chloroform (they used to use it to make cockroaches docile so you could cut them up in boilogy lessons) and also to Hexane (Available in aerosols from most car accessory shops) there is no way I would want to get involved with them again.

Don't thank me. Thank Jerry Seinfeld who had a sitcom episode where he attempted to drug the woman he was seeing by feeding her roast turkey.

Thank you so much for this reference - I couldn't recall the substance name, and you've re-made a very valuable link in a solution to a problem for a friend of mine.

Best wishes

Consider thenatural body responses....and then use them with care.

Take someone relatively fit and healthy. Work them hard mentally and physically. If you've the inclination and the circumstances are suitable, then wrng them out emotionally as well. During this time keep them hydrated but not well fed (as such) and when you do feed them, make it slow release sugars/carbs (low GI in current health speak).

Hey..if yr really into it..test their blood sugars every hour...could be fun....!

Allow them little rest and possibly introduce an element of repetition/meanlessness t the tasks involved (and if you determine what type of rest is needed, via experimentation or understanding of the person invloved, and then deprive them of THAT, all the better. E.G. do they need mental rest/"head space" or a physical nap etc.bu don't dny it totally...yr not QUITE into the interrogationscene YET lol )

Then provide an adrenaline rush of some kind.

Then feed them. A mix of slow release carbs, protien and high sugars. If you want a relly strong effect, do your research, talk to a qualified herbalist and administer a gentel soporific such as Passiflora, Valerian, Hops and Jamaican Dogwood. BUT TAKE ADVICE AND DO NOT ADMINISTER THESE IN SOME MISTAKEN BELIEF THAT BECAUSE THEY ARE AVAILABLE OVER THE COUNTER THEY CANNOT DO DAMAGE!

Anyhow.

Bang.

Sleepy-bye-byes.

All you need now is a gentle touch

Charlies Angels always use to come round without any ill effects from a chloroform kidnapping, so if it's good enough for Sabrina, it's good enough for me!

Did anyone read the article in the Times Style mag on Sunday? Red Letter Days organise to kidnap your partner while they walk down the street. A gang of balaclava wearing nutters grab your partner chuck them in the back of a van, gag them, tie them up and take them to a secret location. You then receive text messages with clues that you have to follow. You eventually find your partner tied up naked ready for you. Probably the safest way to live out these sort of fantasies. You'll be totally helpless against a gang of big blokes in a similar way to the chloroform, but just a lot safer.

wasn't that an episode of csi?

but to the op, having flirted briefly with the use of ether in a scene (using the drops on a face cloth method)

the woozey, spaced and pliable sensations were great but on balance I felt what they added were not significantly worth the risks of overdose and other complications. A similar effect could be induced by a good meal and a couple of glasses of red wine in a warm room

it wasn't an avenue of play that I chose to persue

I have suggested it in the past, Pi refuses on safety grounds. I can't argue with that, really.

Yes, I have indeed, despite having access to Chloroform for my (entirely legitimate) chemistry experiments.

In an absolute sense, the risks are fairly small of having a bad reaction, but would you want to take a 1 in 1000 chance your sub never wakes up? I certainly wouldn't. She's far too valuable to me.

Some people have bad reactions which can prove fatal, and even those who are not prone to react badly can have mishaps.

I'll restate that. Anyone can die as a result of being given chloroform.

I have used it on myself, which I freely admit is also a bloody stupid idea, but we all have bloody stupid ideas sometimes.

Remember, this was the earliest anaesthetic, and yet it's not used now in hospitals. Why? Because it kills lots of people.

In layman's terms, as well as knocking you out, chloroform can send your heart to sleep as well, with predictably fatal results.

If anyone is considering this, please think twice. If you really can't be dissuaded by the risk of death, please read Katya's post, which explains how, at a bare minimum, you'd want to carefully monitor the recipient.

If you want to know the actual effects, it's a distinctive smell, unlike any other. Kind of sweet. You then start to get pins and needles throughtout your entire body. Then, if you're me, you start to panic at not having control of your own body any more. It's not terribly nice being sent to sleep against your will. Granted, it could be nice in a scene, but the risks are far too high for my liking.

Bear in mind, today, anaesthetists don't use Chloroform, they use Fentanyl. If you're thinking this is safer, remember that case a few years back of the Russian theatre that was attacked, where they held everyone hostage? They pumped in Fentanyl, hoping to knock everyone out. What happened was that large numbers of people died. The dose needed to knock out many large terrorists was such that it killed lots of eldery people, children, and women.

Besides, in practice, you'd have to soak a cloth in chloroform, hold it over the persons nose and mouth for a full minute, and then they're out for about five minutes. If you can tie someone up in that time, you're faster than me...

Not worth the hassle, and you can't regulate the dose if you're using it in a scene, at least, in any way I can think of...

Ok, I feel like I've written a book there... But it really is not worth the risk of having your lovely sub wind up dead.

How abt some mild sleeping pills. Give her one or two (watch that you do not exceed any safety dosage) just to knock her out and then you can have your fantasy worked out.

Please be picky. You sound picky and well informed, which is an excellent combination.
