So here I am. It's soon to be payday, so any cash I have can be spent. It's early on a Saturday night. Had a few beers to get the weekend started yesterday, was expecting some booze fuelled malarky tonight. Pub, club, trundle home in the small hours. All good.
But no.
Flatmates instead have pissed off to see 'The Corpse Bride'. A fucking cartoon. A flat full of moneyed young Londoners and the best two of them can think of to do is go to the pissing cinema. Leaving muggins here at a loose end and in a foul mood.
It's very frustrating, in particular because unlike them (I'm a year older) I have a birthday approaching, 27 to be precise. That's late twenties. Nearly thirty. I don't consider that to be old, but it's definitely going to be different. What youth I have left is vanishing and when I should be out marauding my fucking flatmates want to watch cartoons.
GAH!

What's to stop you going out on your own? If I had the chance to go out and my mates wanted to do something else. I wouldn't be sitting at home. Young man, get out the house!

But it's a Johnny Depp cartoon! I'm dying to see it. Had my birthday day before yesterday, still celebrating.
And I'm much older than you. Ariane Relax, nothing's under control.

It looks like I'm set to go off for a quiet pint with the bro and his missus. I don't feel right raising hell on my own somehow, though I sometimes do. Maybe I'm just a natural showoff and without an audience I'm less active.

27 you're a young whippersnapper ...Then the woman said; "It is true. My father-in-law died in a tiger's jaw; my husband also died there. Now, my son has also died there." Confucius said, "Why do you not leave this place?" The woman said: "Here there is no harsh and oppresive government"

Take courage from the number of replies and that at least some of us are over 27 and haven't seen thirty for a good number of years. So, you're stuck at home and everyone else has gone out. There's no one looking over your shoulder, make the most of it. Go chat up that nubile blonde/brunette/redhead you've had your eye on whilst the going is good.
