Stan If you mean tops / bottoms I would suggest that the numbers are about equal, although I am not sure. In respect of Dom/mes and subs, there are far more subs than Dom/mes. I'm not especially dominant, I just find myself in a submissive world. If you think about it, people like to follow rather than lead - it makes sense. Any statistics you will get from websites are hugely unreliable. All it means is that in amongst those who have joined whichever website looking for kicks and arbitrarily picking a label, most are men and most men choose the label Dom. Be well man, and pass some love around this week. Bod. ~O

I would say you have contridicted yourself here. As you say many blokes will pick the title dominant because they don't like to follow or at least they do not like the implication of that because it is against their idea of masculinity which may also explain why many women consider themselves submissive. As has been said the reality is far more complicated than that with varying degrees etc and all that stuff. Someone said that dominants are very much in demand at clubs I find, as a sub, that I get asked by more than one person to play with them every time I go so I would say both are in demand.

The other issue with any compiled figures from online sources will be that it excludes those people who have no internet presence but still practice BDSM in their relationship. Using club demographics you miss those people who don't attend clubs. So any figures you have will always have gaps that you can only guess at what numbers fall into those gaps and how they would skew the ratios.

The really important ratios are thus: 1 : 0... you are not getting any. 1 : 1... you are getting some. 1 : 2... you are getting more but its not quite as much fun as you thought it would be. 1 : 3... you are a rich Muslim. 1 : 4... greedy bastard. 1 :20... you are a teacher at a girls public school and are lightly to be arrested soon. These kind of statistics make me just want to stick to photography and forget about dommes playing 'Kiss the boot of shiny, shiny leather' - Velvet Underground

I often wonder about this, and anecdotally, I would have to say femsubs must be less prevalent than you might think. I'm 46 and have no picture up*, and am not looking, yet the number of doms who contact me is quite surprising. (I discovered only today you can turn off your ad so will do so. Idiot.) There appear to be acres of malesubs, too, so I guess that ladies are in short supply generally. Could be wrong, as I have no experience whatever of this life, but that's how it seems. I so wish I were a domme. The choice is endless, apparently. *ETA I'm quite pretty actually. Just so you know. Edited 28 Feb 11, 10:01 PM by misunderstoodslave

How the hell did this cold case get opened again?

This is probably because you still have your ad active and as such are making them think you are looking. Rohypnol means never having to say "Would you like another coffee?". |
