I wanted to add a reply to riverdeep16's blog "Weeding out the Wannabes", but since replies don't appear to be enabled, I'll put my comments here.
I agree that receiving contacts from people who don't explain themselves, have no profile and are effectively inviting themselves over for a chat, can be pretty annoying and frustrating.
However, if it hadn't happened to me then two very enjoyable relationships would not have ensued.
I have an email address on my profile precisely so that people who are not members can contact me if they like what they read, and let me know of their interest, what they like doing and so on (after all, they've got quite a bit of that about me already).
The two that led to something were almost the worst of the bunch initially, but both were from people who turned out to be very polite and when questioned did give information about their interests both 'nilla and BDSM. One of these is the woman who on my previous blog I mentioned has an interest in meeting Lady Rosenthyme.
We are all aware of the amount of dross that comes (especially to female members) from those trawling the web looking for an easy shag or who simply bottle out when faced with the prospect of it actually happening. Unfortunately, it can drive some genuine people away. However, it is the price of the online search.
As I said, I have found two very rewarding and valuable relationships through non-members being able to view my profile and respond to it. I would be saddened if the potential for that to happen were taken away.
