Saga Radio News!!! (9)

I've spent a pleasant afternoon sitting in my study, clearing out the junk, answering correspondence – you know the stuff. Lovely day, windows open, fantastic view – I overlook our woods, and as the trees are threatening to come into the house at this point, I have a lovely view of the birds twittering around the trees.

Playing in the background is my fantastic new DAB digital radio, the very one that A bought me for my birthday last week. I've flicked around the 300 odd channels all afternoon, great fun. Finally I settled on a mellow channel playing soppy sounds. My fab new radio is telling me it's 'easy listening', but don't tell anyone!

Then I heard something to shatter my afternoon...... the news on the hour announces that it is 'Saga Radio News'.

Bloody hell I'm only 34 – is this the beginning of the end?

No, you've gone in at the deep end. If you wanted a beginner's introduction you should have started with R2. You're so ambitious!

i am very envious - i have been searching for a DAB that also has an mp3 cd player on it, but no luck yet. i am sure it is just me looking in the wrong places.

i realised that i was getting "old" or middle aged when i found myself not only thinking sarah brightman had a fie set of pipes on her as she sung andrew lloyd weber songs on tv, i also found myself thinging she was quite attractive. i realised i was turning into my dad. scary thought.

Perhaps you're so trendy, you could make Saga chic?

I don't actually know what the DAB stands for but my brother bought us one as a wedding present and it has become one of my most treasured possessions. Radio7 is my favourite. Listening to old radio comedies such as Round the Horne and Dad's Army. It's pure magic!

Will the Panasonic SCEN 9 at 150 quid from Comet do? Otherwise get a MP3 CD player for twenty quid and a DAB for 45 quid from the same august establishment.

Have also discovered Radio7 and love it. Although I have so say that Poirot's accent sounded a little dodgy on 'Death on the Nile'
