My image of Tanos until now has been of Him benevolently listening to our mewlings and peepings from His Olympian Height, whilst occasionally stepping down from His lofty seat to extract a priapic, twitching malesub who's managed to insert his personal ad five times in the Events listings, or pluck from the Weblogs the foam-flecked agenda of some rabid female cult in Nevada who wants to lock all men in colour- coded boxes for the rest of their lives.
So it's nice to see the Divinity expressing Himself on the issues of the day, and making some entirely valid points. It certainly seems that in allying ourselves with the most dangerous nation on Earth (see Noam Chomsky ad infinitum), we are indeed becoming tarred with the same brush, not only in the eyes of those on the continent, but of those in the Arab world too - and frankly I don't blame 'em. However good our intentions are in fighting in an honorable manner, trying to minimise civilian deaths, and focusing on rebuilding after the war, we are hypocrites by association.
I might also add that Spike Milligan, in his WWII memoirs, often mentioned that American pilots shot anything that moved, and he and his gun crew would either freeze or dive for cover whenever a US plane came into view - you'd think we'd learn, eh, and be teaching this tactic in Basic Training? As usual we take it all stoically ... although it's demmed inconvenient when our young men get wasted by these rootin' tootin' high-tech-gun-totin' maniacs ... grrrrrr ...
