I'm concious of the fact that by posting constantly cynical and negative entries I come across as unduly negative myself.
Which explains why I don't really post when I'm happy.
I recently started "chatting" to a reasonably local person who seemed like a good match.
After a few weeks of this we progressed into photo swapping, and then phone calls.
All was good, so we arranged a 'date' in the flesh. Somewhere nice and safe.
Only she stands me up, and refuses to answer the phone / mail now.
Grr. I can't help thinking I've been played along quite nicely. Which makes me wonder why I bother.

Some perspectives... irritating yes, and had it happen to me, but perhaps she was excruciatingly shy, intended to go and then had second thoughts at the last minute, panicked, couldn't go through with it and felt too embarassed to contact you or answer the phone and mail? Particularly if you are chasing her about it since? Accepted she is in the wrong for not giving you a reason or apology. But perhaps she is just not a really confident person? Perhaps she wasn't playing games or intending to hurt you, but just couldn't go through with it, for whatever personal reason.

Interesting perspective, but other than writing about it here I don't feel like I'm really 'chasing' her. After all I think by not getting in touch she's kinda made her position known. A friendly 'so where were you?' call and email was really the limit, just to make sure there wasn't something like a family accident, or exploding car. Still with no response after a couple of calls, and a single mail I haven't really persued things since. The last thing I want to do is chase, or harass, unwilling people.

Me neither .. which is why I like your idea of meeting sooner rather than later. Still if there's distance involved, or other mundane complications it can be harder to organise that. I'd like to 'insist' upon earlier meetings, but that just strikes me as leading to the intepretation that I'm pushy and trying to do things before I should. It's a hard thing to organise - although really I don't fully understand why. |
