Continuing in my determined search, last summer and autumn, for a suitable Dom/partner, I had two more brief involvements.
The first was almost completely inexperienced in bdsm. I had not gathered just how new he was to it until we actually played. He said he was eager to learn more, but I quickly realised that his interest was too shallow for me. A nice enough guy, but we were sadly incompatible.
The second was in a way the extreme opposite. Quite knowledgeable in bdsm technique and a known scene figure locally. But I began to feel uneasy when he introduced me to an impressionable newbie at a pre-club meal not by my name, but with the words “And she….just does as she's told.” This was about two and a half hours after we'd met in the flesh for the first time, and it struck a worryingly false note.
