Not half as badly as the grown up hen and stag parties that pollute my home town every weekend invading the shopping centre in in appropriate clothing whilst our families and children are there MG

Why the hell would someone say they're from Blackpool when they're not? It's not exactly a place one would be proud of coming from is it? my guess is it's just she mixed in different social circles and possibly different classes of people! From our chats i can't think why a Rossalian would ever mix with a student at Collegiate.....Aside from being 10 miles apart they are vastly different people at each!! Also don't forget Blackpool has a rather transient popuation with any old drop out who wants to prolong their holiday staying past their welcome and therefore this makes it difficult to recognise anyone you might have known years back As for the answer to your question i HONESTLY think it's something in the water. Don't worry, be happy! Edited 13 Jul 05, 12:55 AM by sa_fora

I know many people who are proud to be Sangronuns. I do wonder just what you know about Blackpool and its people.
Both my sisters went to the old Collegiate school in the 60's and 70's. Back then it was the grammar school for girls. The boys including 2 of my elder brothers going to Blackpool Grammar.
Its true that our population has changed in my lifetime. Gone are the days of the week long family holiday due to the growth in cheap plane tickets and package holidays. Gone are the days of family owned b and b's. So much of the money spent in Blackpool goes straight out. Whereas it used to stay with Blackpool families and within the resort the proportion of our hotels and b and b's owned by outsiders is staggering. With the reduction in family holidays hotel owners have converted to bed and breakfast to make money from the dss. Others build their trade around stag and hen parties which themselves serve to drive more families away. Blackpool nightclubs spew out 40,000 people onto the streets in the early hours of the morning according to the police. The majority of violent crime committed during that time is by visitors. We do not get extra funding towards our policing to assist with is. Residents report being unable to get a police response as officers are busy dealing with holidaymakers causing trouble. We still provide from the first Friday in September to the end of October the greatest free show on earth, The Blackpool Illuminations. Well free to visitors that is as it is still subsidised to the tune of over a million pounds by us residents. I will happily show you or anyone around the real Blackpool if you can get over your preconceptions and have the courage to have your eyes opened. MG

I moved to Blackpool 18 months ago, and fell in love with it. It is cheesy and full of tat and the worst of trouble-makers come here and sometimes stay here. Ok, that is the bad side -now lets look at the half full glass. There is the sea, wonderful on hot days (when it looks as inviting as an orgasm). You never want for things to do; there are pubs, clubs, cinemas, theatre, museums, shops a zoo, a sealife centre, loads of good places to eat. There is loads of free stuff - really nicely kept gardens, illuminations, free shows all the time. Then there is the sea of course. The town is kept for visitors - litter is kept to a minimum and bad smells from sewerage are sorted out quickly lest they upset tourists. Bad parking is jumped on as it restricts the traffic flow for tourists. Speeding is policed heavily because there are too many tourist kids in danger. In summer public transport is excellent, in winter you can always find parking. There are loads of perves and then there is the sea, which I can see now just by moving my head back. There is no better start to an evening of pervery than a walk on the beach. sent by corriander[THM] - (warning - brain may not have been enabled at time of writing)

But do you have to born in Blackpool. If not, how long have you to have lived in Blackpool to call yourself a Sangronun. I moved here when I was 7. there's nothing worse than trying to fist jam a greasy crack |
