I've never been involved in self-harm in any way myself.
But the recent self-harm posts have reminded me of my childhood.
As a small child, aged between 6 and 10, I can recall several instances where my elder sister didn't wish to go to school.
She'd say things like "If I broke my arm .. I'd be off school for days!".
(Can you see where this is going yet?)
Many, many, many times she'd persuade me to injure her. Entirely to avoid school.
Kinda self-harm by proxy?
At the time I was having fun, doing what my big (idolised) sis wanted. I knew it was wrong. I didn't enjoy the acts themselves, just her happyness.
Does that make me a really early starter..?
I'm sure this must have happened to others, though I can't recall reading about it. Nor have I ever told anybody about it before.
